Day one. I'm glad I wasn't as heavy when I got on the scale today. I'm sure I didn't just "lose" that weight, but it's still nice to see lower numbers. With any luck, this will be a trend. Since the scale I'm using seems to weigh on the heavy side, I'm going to aim for 140. That should roughly be 135 on a better calibrated scale.

So I found out Tuesday (during a company biometric screening) that the scale I've been using at work is off by about 5 pounds. I'm going to leave my weigh-in as it is because whether I start out at 157 or 152, I still need to lose around 20 pounds. I'll just watch for changes in weight as opposed to being so concerned with what the scale actually says my weight is. Good to know though. It's nice to know I only gained 2 pounds, not 7, in the last 3 months. I may not have been recording my food intake, but I know I have been eating a lot less. I also have drastically cut back on my soda and alcohol consumption. Would have thought that would have allowed me to lose weight, but what do I know.

Starting my own challenge Monday (created it today). Since I personally have trouble sticking with any program that limits too much of what I eat or drink, I rarely am able to stick with them in the long run (or even the duration of the challenge for that matter). I decided I'm probably not the only one, so I designed an easy challenge that anyone who wants to can easily participate in with a high likelihood of success. The weight loss probably won't be dramatic, but it will be nice to have people doing a challenge they can be successful with so that they can have the confidence to attempt more difficult challenges. Maybe if my challenge goes well for me, I'll create another, more difficult challenge.

Not sure I'm ready to do this again (I'm so tired of failure I can't even stand it), but I've decided I'm going to do a series of articles on what does and doesn't work with losing weight. I want to steer away from conventional diets, at least for now. I might try a few after trying a few things of my own first. I'm trying to focus on the article and research and, thus, try to make this fun instead of something that I can fail at (if I'm doing the articles and research, I gain something other than weight no matter what happens).
