I am a 55 year old man with diabesity. I came here from Caryn Zinn's recomendation so I can track what it is I am doing on my LCHF lifestyle. My goal is to maintain less than 20g of carbs a day and consume at least 70% of calories from fats. Having been doing this for a month now, I have finally hit ketosis and my blood sugars are remaining very steady, but not as low as I want them to be.

GYM?!?!?!?!?!?!
@gam3... if you are looking to lose weight, there is NOTHING at the gym which will do that for you. The gym, however, is an EXCELLENT place to build your muscles, your heart, your lungs... and your self esteem. Follow the advice of Jonathan Bailor and Dr Bernstein... do weight training to build the muscles to help burn the calories. Get and stay on a LCHF lifestyle and STICK to it 100%. The diet, or new lifestyle, is what is going to get you losing weight.

GYM?!?!?!?!?!?!
@NM... absolutely spot on!! Exercising for the sake of exercising sucks... Find something that you LIKE to do... Riding a bike? Tennis? Swimming? Walking? Nobody is talking about killing yourself during your exercising; then it doesn't become fun. I lift for 10 minutes a day for 2 days a week utilizing Jonathan Bailors' teaching. I ride a real recumbent trike for almost two hours a day five days a week because it is so, so much FUN ! To me, this is not exercising... this is doing what I enjoy.

GYM?!?!?!?!?!?!
As explained in the literature and the doctors, exercise does not necessarily cause you to lose weight. You can kill yourself for an hour on a treadmill and consume only around 200 calories. You get so hungry that you eat that or drink that all back and more. Take that to the Google machine. By all means, exercise, build muscle tone and heart-health... but not for the sole reason to lose weight.

Do you lift weights
Because I am fat, I ONLY do resistance lifting, as outlined by Johatnan Bailor. I spend 20 minutes a week and am kicking it! I work only the large muscle groups in order to utilize the protein in the diet and to lost the fat.
