Still on track! Today I get my weekly reward for a job well done - a bag of chips. This week I kept the calories around 1500 and I got the extra 1/2 lb. Grocery shopping after work tonight, I hope I don't go nuts again and buy out the store! ;-)

When it comes to dieting, I'm a success. My problem is keeping it off! When I reach my goal, the real challenge begins!

Eight weeks. No plateau. Monday was a bust, I had dinner at my niece's place but I still managed to lose 1 lb this week.
I don't count the initial water weight and so I calculate my weight loss as 15 lbs starting from June 6th, 2010. 15lbs/8 weeks = 1.875 lbs / week.
The previous 2 weeks my weight loss averaged about 1 lb / week. I attribute the reduction to an increase of condiments which increased my sodium (salt) content. Salt retains water. When you begin a diet the dramatic initial weight loss is because as you reduce food intake you are also reducing sodium contend and hence, water weight. Look at most of the other dieters' weight loss charts and you will see the initial water weight loss. That's the theory I'm working under and so far it appears to be true. Instead of using a hot sauce, I now use Chili powder. I also have onion powder and garlic powder which I sprinkle on my food and eliminated the commercial, salt rich sauce codiments. I one concession is I use mustard on my lunch sandwich.
To conclude: A plateau can result from a) too many calories or b) too much salt which retains water.
I cannot include exercise stats as I have a sedentary lifestyle (office work and night shift) so I will leave that to the exercise gurus, for now.
Success to all!
