25 October 2015

Good Morning, Dear Friends! I love the smell of the wood stove on chilly mornings. It is FINALLY rainy here in SW Oregon. This explains why I just wanted to stay in bed & sleep this morning, as this always happens to me when we have a good rain. Also my joints are really stiff & sore, but not too bad considering I haven't taken my AM pain pills yet. We probably won't go out to church today, but will watch a bible study on DVD. I can't believe my last weigh-in on here was OCT 4th! At least my weight is the same, though I gained then lost 2 lbs in the interim. There was a mess-up at my Dr's office & they said the prescription for the pain pills I've been taking for like a year now suddenly needs to be physically picked up from their office as a hard copy, then taken to my pharmacy for refills. When I questioned her the office gal even said this was a new change. So I ripped her a new one (a VERY rare thing for me to do), because we had made the 60 mile round trip to the city at least twice in the last week, so could have easily picked up the prescription ourselves & got the meds, IF their office had let us know about this change. I called our DD at work & told her of the problem, & she picked up the prescription yesterday AM & dropped it off at our pharmacy in a nearby little town before coming here. She says the pharmacy gal told her that I was mis-informed by the Dr's office, & they only need a fax from the Dr's for the prescription to be refilled! So they gave DD my pain meds, plus another med I had ordered. Tomorrow I'm going to be chatting with my Dr's Office Manager about getting their act together! I'm very happy to say that Thursday was my first day back at the YMCA for pool therapy. It was GREAT! I was quite sore Thursday evening, & had slight trouble sleeping that night, but felt great Friday & yesterday. Now I can get back to some serious weight loss. I've decided that on my YMCA days I'll just eat a good healthy breakfast, but just an apple or something very light for lunch, then our regular low carb-low fat dinner. I think this will really help me to lose weight a little faster than I have been, which is way too slow. I'm so excited that I only need to lose 39.6 lbs more to have my left hip replacement, & don't want to keep dragging along. I need to reach my goal weight & have the surgery, then continue with my healthy eating lifestyle til I reach my ultimate goal weight of around 150 to 170 lbs. I totally can't believe I'm almost there! Thanking the Lord for being right there with me all the way, I could NOT have done this by myself! Wishing all my FS Buddies a lovely, happy & blessed Sunday, ((((HUGS)))) GLAMMER

Hi again. Since some of my FS Buddies remember our middle DD's ovarian cyst removal surgery back in Dec 2014, I wanted to give a better update on her for those who are interested. This poor gal has gone through more health problems than just about anyone else I've ever k nown, & she's only 34! Now this hernia surgery she just had is only 1 of at least 3 surgeries she needs to have. The other 2 are: 1 - to remove about 20-21 lbs of abdominal scar tissue, left over from previous surgeries, & 2 - To repair a fusion of her intestines to her lower spine & pelvic region. Dr's don't know why her intestines have fused like this, but say it may have to do with our family's Ehlers- Danlos Syndrome, which causes various weird problems. She has a very positive attitude & is doing well, all things considered. Her boyfriend is taking good care of her. He's had lots of practice, since he helped his mom as a caregiver for his grandma who had cancer, & later for his mom when she also developed cancer. So he's used to dealing with sickness, disability, surgeries, etc. I especially want to thank Kattay, Deb_N & Char60 for praying for her. ~ Blessings, GLAMMER

Hi Everyone, sorry I've been MIA again for awhile. We took a vacation drive down the West Coast to San Diego to see our middle DD, who had hernia surgery soon after our visit. She is having serious health problems & we hadn't seen her in over 5 years. We also visited with my only DS & her family in Julian, CA. My weigh-in shows a loss of 2+ lbs, but yesterday I weighed 1 lb less, before oldest DD took me to Red Lobster for their Endless shrimp feed. Then she took me to WinCo for my monthly grocery shopping. I save lots of money by shopping at WinCo, but it's a 120 mile round trip to go there, so we don't go often. We usually go to Walmart which also has great prices, but not quite as good as WinCo. No biggie, I planned for it by weighing on Sat AM vs. my usual Sun AM, so I'm not discouraged by the gain, & know I can lose it again quickly, & more besides. On one hand I hate how slow the weight is coming off, but on the other I know that once it's off it's off for good. So I'll just keep plugging along, just like that "Little Engine that Could". My YMCA membership hasn't been renewed yet, waiting on DD to resolve a little financial crisis then she will be paying for it for me. I am so thankful & blessed to have 3 sweet & loving daughters! I hope you all have a nice, peaceful Sunday, & a terrific week ahead. ~ Hugs & Blessings, GLAMMER

YIPPEE! I have NO IDEA how I lost 3 lbs last week, but I'll take it, LOL! When I went to the Y on Thursday for pool therapy, they said my membership was expired. No warning or word of this from either them or my insurance which is paying for it! They let me swim that day, & on Friday I called my insurance. They said they had paid my membership for 6 mos, now they'll pay 1/3, & the Y will pay 1/3, but I have to pay the rest. Only $16, & it's fair, but we truly can't afford it. Our daughters & son-in-law help us so much, I didn't want to ask them for more help. So I prayed. Oldest daughter came up SAT as usual, & suddenly the "Y" story just popped out! DD said "Mom, we're members, & adding $16 to our payment is no big deal!" ~ Apprently, a "big deal" is in the eyes of the beholder, as they say, LOL! So YAY, I get to continue with my pool therapy!
I have not been good with logging my food intake, & haven't been exercising at all since the crushing news at the Y. So HOW DID I LOSE 3 lbs??? I HAVE NO IDEA! In fact, I've been eating "bad stuff" that I normally never eat~ so WEIRD! This does go along with a troublesome problem I've been realizing I have. When I scrupulously track my daily foo intake, exercise, etc., I focus so much on these that I get crazy. If I lose a pound I eat more & gain it back, & if I gain a pound I get upset & depressed & eat more. I've tried not to do this, but it still happens! Does anyone else have this problem? Any thoughts or suggestions?
