GLAMMER's Journal, 04 October 2015

Hi again. Since some of my FS Buddies remember our middle DD's ovarian cyst removal surgery back in Dec 2014, I wanted to give a better update on her for those who are interested. This poor gal has gone through more health problems than just about anyone else I've ever k nown, & she's only 34! Now this hernia surgery she just had is only 1 of at least 3 surgeries she needs to have. The other 2 are: 1 - to remove about 20-21 lbs of abdominal scar tissue, left over from previous surgeries, & 2 - To repair a fusion of her intestines to her lower spine & pelvic region. Dr's don't know why her intestines have fused like this, but say it may have to do with our family's Ehlers- Danlos Syndrome, which causes various weird problems. She has a very positive attitude & is doing well, all things considered. Her boyfriend is taking good care of her. He's had lots of practice, since he helped his mom as a caregiver for his grandma who had cancer, & later for his mom when she also developed cancer. So he's used to dealing with sickness, disability, surgeries, etc. I especially want to thank Kattay, Deb_N & Char60 for praying for her. ~ Blessings, GLAMMER

So Sorry she has had to go through all of these surgeries, etc. I am glad she is doing well under the circumstances. Great she has a good attitude! The pride for your DD is in your words. I had to have a hernia surgery after other surgeries, radiation, and chemo. The doc recommended me wearing a girdle after each of the surgeries. I didn't. Wish I did, now I have intestine displacement. Sending more good thoughts and prayers for you and yours!

Thanks so much Kattay, I'll forward your good thoughts & prayers to DD. I know she'll appreciate them, as I do. I've had 4 or 5 hernia repairs, so I know it is definitely not fun, & I'm so glad she has a good guy to help & care for her. Is your intestine displacement because of the hernia surgery, or ? Just curious. I've added you to my prayer list. <3

You are welcome and I will continue. Mine was years ago. The hernia came about because of the stomach surgery and radiation. After the hernia surgery came the displacement. My stomach muscles were cut during the first surgery and radiation weakens. So I think it is all related, all cause and effect. Glad she has a good man to depend on. I was alone for all of mine except for my kids, who are very supportive. No one thought the hernia surgery was a big deal. The doc fussed at me. "You just had major stomach surgery! You should not be alone!"
