Sandy701's Journal, 31 March 2012

Pouring down rain this AM and storms overnight. The storms kept my Nervous Nellie exceptionally nervous which kept us awake, or sleeping fitfully, throughout most of the night. Both DH and I are not quite our perky selves today - LOL!

Anyway, no outdoor walking for me...doing some XBox adventures instead.

We took some time this morning to bring down lots of paint cans from the attic storage area to see what we've got...basically to see what all the previous owners kept. The issue is the master bedroom, that has a color neither of us has liked from the day we first saw it. Whether to repaint it entirely or just go with touch-ups is the question. Our bedspread does NOT go with the current color at all (not even close), so if we keep the color, I've got to get something new (which happens to be on exceptional sale just for today!!). Price-wise, it's cheaper to repaint, but I hate painting PLUS it takes up a huge amount of time I just don't have these days.

It turns out the remaining paint for the bedroom is over 4 years old, according to the cans, there's very little left, and it's pretty dried up. I don't think it's a good bet for even touch-up purposes, so......looks like I (or someone) will be repainting and then we'll be able to use the bedding set we already have. Because of the dogs, we keep that set tucked away and only put it out in its entirety when we're selling.

I'm already beginning to look at the house as potentially going on the market in about a year, when DH is vulnerable to a new assignment or possibly retirement. I can't wait to address these projects until then.....there are just too many.

Looks as though you will be painting.....painting and moving, don't like either one. Have a good weekend, hugs.

Neither do I, Gigi. Moving, and everything associated with it, brings about a stress level like no other!

That must be hard - constantly being on the move. But since you are preparing, a fresh coat of paint does work wonders! Might just as well paint it something you like since you are going to be there for another year.

At this point, Buffy, it may even be more than another year. It's just that every time we've counted on staying beyond the typical tour length, even when we've been PROMISED we were staying, that's never been the case! One time, he was promised a particular slot in the following rotation cycle That promise lasted all of about 5 weeks when he was very unexpectedly told, nope, you're moving THIS cycle to a totally different location and position. This last time was the worst, IMO...within 48 hours of him returning to duty after open chest surgery on his heart and recuperating/rehabbing for 2 months(and limited duty at that), he got notice that he was moving in less than 120 days!! Boy, was I ticked - still am!!! But, in all fairness, there are pluses and minuses to any job/employer and his job has a good share of pluses.

The paint you found being as old as it is sounds like just the excuse you needed to paint with a color you like.

Bren, PLEASE come over and help me paint!!!! And, I won't mind if you end up doing all of it - LOL!!!

Karen, it's true that I will be changing the color to something in the yellow family, I think. It's a pretty shade of blue right now, but neither DH nor myself are fans of blue. Don't know why....we've rarely had any blue rooms...only a bathroom back in '82-'84 and a guest bedroom in 2004-2005. We both like blue clothing, but just not blue rooms, I guess.

Neither sounds like much fun, painting & moving are those chores only truly appreciated After they are finished. No matter what, both of those always end up taking longer & cost more than origianlly thought. Maybe we can just get Bren to do it...that would be easier, hope she's up for it! If not, it is much easier to paint a color you like for sure!

GG, I have a feeling it would be too hard for Bren to leave all those cows and her idyllic countryside! But, one can always hope.... LOL!!

LOL...maybe if you let her paint cows on your walls?

I hear those cowtails can do a mean Picasso-like flair!
