Monday Morning Motivation

It's not raining!! :D :D :D

AND the number on the scales went down again so I do hope things are now on the move for the next chunk of proper loss.

With me anyway it seems to be the pattern. Lose nicely, yay, stick for what seems like forever - AW - then move again.

My way of looking at it is the body is going through drastic changes and doing all sorts of complicated internal shifts and re-growing various connections as my fat mass decreases. That takes time. After all, we see the outside, but the fat is all over the place and on the inside. Do we lose fat from the outside in? Nope! I reckon we lose it from the inside out, which is partly why the skin takes so long to catch up ;)

Makes sense to me that enlarged fat cells which have been nice and plump for many a long time have given up their stores, but are hanging on with the door open in case they need to take in more again. Once they have not been replenished for a while they need to close the door and move over to make way for the next raft of cells to give up their stores. During that time there is a weight loss plateau and a re-jigging of internal 'stuff'.

Who knows? I am not saying I am right in any of my musings! it makes a sort of sense to me which I can visualise and use to rationalise the process in a positive way, rather than get frustrated and beat myself up over nothing happening despite me doing 'all the right things'.

I have tracked and weighed for just over a year - the first time in my life on an intentional weight loss mission. It's been very interesting and most useful. I remember when I first hit a plateau I was SO frustrated, it seemed to last forever. It's easy at those times to give up and sabotage the good work. These days I have the confidence that once the loss stalls it will get going again if I stay true to eating what I know works for me. Even if there is a rise, these things happen, and it WILL go down again.

Finding the positive in the apparent negative is what keeps me going, not just here, in my whole life. I don't like pain. Sometimes it's hard. Sometimes it's impossible. Most of the time it's well within reach, it only has to be looked for.

For sure the lack of rain and a glimmer of blue in the bright white sky helps one hell of a lot!!
