Been off my diet, trying to cheat every day now. Living like nothing is wrong with me, not counting calories or exercising or anything. I'm not just putting on fat, I'm killing myself. I have to face my diabetes every day. I just see others that cheat and live like they wish and I want to do the same. No excuse, and I must make a choice and then live, or die, with that choice.

You need one of those "choose life" bumper stickers. Never mind what those other people do--choose YOURSELF! You are worth it. Find something else to reward/treat yourself with, other than food.

Time to jump back ON the bandwagon. Diabetes is a drag. You can,t cheat the Meter each morning. "A man's got to do what a man has got to do" Not sure who said that but probably someone with diabetes.

I was pre-diabetic and have heart disease. Did the same thing, ate as if nothing was wrong for 3 years after I was diagnosed and 5 stents in my heart. Thankfully I came to my senses one day and got on the right track. You said it, with that type of situation our food choices can determine if we live or we die. Use that as motivation to make the right choices, one day at a time. Put many days of that together and you will have made a life change you can continue to do, it becomes habit. Today is a great day to start and you can do it! Just do it.

I am pre-diabetic BECAUSE OF MY WEIGHT. I did this to myself, and it has fueled my determination to lose the weight and maintain it. I'm learning to think of the way I eat as a lifestyle--if ever I do become diabetic, I will already know so much about proper management. It gets easier every day, I swear it does. We're all with you on this!

I don't drink alcohol, I quit smoking after almost 25 years cold turkey, but eating healthy consistently has been the absolute hardest thing I've ever done. Thank you all for your support.

Hey, you never know, maybe those people are on their cheat days and are working out other days. But all you see is other people eating what they want. So, stick to your resolve and focus on you, not what other people are doing!

I'm diabetic too. You are right, your weight and diet are not helping you. I suggest you do as you have planned and take charge...
