MommaCan's Journal, 20 March 2024

Saw the doctor yesterday. She told me to stop doing KETO, to stop taking my heartburn pill that I've been taking for over 20 years, and to stay on my blood pressure medication - blah. It's been awhile since I've had anything done, so we are doing it all.

She took me off keto because she said I am high risk due to family and keto is known for hearth health issues. So I am going to do a stress test to erase the question mark of my heart health. I struggled with my reaction to the removal from a plan that has been successful for me so far. I felt lost last night, like the training wheels had been removed before I was ready. Today I feel somewhat depressed and I still have not figured it out. IT is simple, ensure I am eating healthy and in a calorie deficit daily. But for me, I need a plan. I have not yet figured out that plan but I will. So back to the drawing board - at least, and for this I am excited, I can incorporate a more rounded meal plan that includes veggies and fruits into my diet.
206.2 lb Lost so far: 18.8 lb.    Still to go: 71.2 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Mediterranean??. Most doctor's believe it to be hearth healthy and it is fairly low carb and may work for you. Anyways don't give up. There are many paths to take.

Get a new doctor. Look up Dr. Jason Fung on YouTube he is a renal doctor in Toronto Canada and employs keto and fasting with his patients. Which ever way you decide to go Good luck.

Keto has worked wonders for me too and although I’m not completely doing it again (I’m eating fruit), I would feel lost if my dr told me to stop something that’s actually helped me. I agree with maybe trying Mediterranean. I been trying DASH dieting & getting away from processed foods. I hope you find something that works for you but yes definitely don’t give up.

As liv001 mentioned - Not only doctors but numerous large reliable research studies have shown the Mediterranean diet to be good for heart health. Whether Mediterranean helps you lose weight is a matter of calories in vs calories out, of course. If you’re high risk for heart issues, like I am, it’s a good idea to listen to your medical professional. By all means get a 2nd or 3rd opinion if you need it. Personally I’m extremely wary of anyone recommending to “follow” YouTube doctors 🙃 if the information is real and true and reliable, studies will be carried out showing its efficacy and it’ll make its way into mainstream medicine.

I'm sorry to hear this. It must be frustrating for you as keto was working for you. I too have heart issues and although I don't do keto. I am lucky to have a team of Drs that are extremely supportive of my WOE and my fitness level. I hope you are able to figure out another WOE that will work for you.💜💜

it is NOT BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD. SHE IS ABSOLUTELY 100% UNEDUCATED AND WRONG. Fire her! You deserve better. My CARDIOLOGIST is Keto. my NEUROLOGIST is keto. my general doc, who used to be a bariatric surgeon, is keto. I'm healthier than I've ever been. oh and my electro cardiologist is keto. the medical establishment wants you sick. Get the book The Obesity Code. Follow Ben Bickman, Dr Ken Berry, The Carb Addition doc , take your health into your own hands. I had high blood pressure. within 2 weeks, off meds. You should get a CAC score to see if you do have any plaque. What causes heard disease is inflammation, obesity, elevated blood sugar and insulin. Watch Dr Jason Fung too. Don't stress. just do it!

and follow Dr Boz. Keto is a buzzword. Cut your carbs to 20. Make it your lifestyle if you enjoy it. No more processed foods. You will have much better mental clearity, too! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💪🙌

When your Dr says to stop something that you think is helping you, I would try to find a balance. I eat low carb, low fat and high fiber, I started here 1/26/2024 and as of this morning I am down 19 pounds, do what will work for you.

There is NOTHING WRONG with a well-formulated Keto diet. Most main stream doctors don't really know anything about it so they dismiss it as 'unhealthy' or bad for your heart. Keto is NOT ABOUT THE FAT!! It's about eating enough protein, keeping the carbs at around 20 gm and adding in enough fat for your goals. Go to Maria & Craig Emmerich (mariamindbodyhealth.com) website. These guys are amazing.

Mediterranean is definitely a strong option. im greek and Italian, sadly living in America. Mediterranean is a great WOE. I focus veggies and citrus fruits, with focus on fish, Chicken and beef. i make homemade breads and some pastas, if time allows with 2 lil ones and 3rd on the way. Think of it like modified keto... Do whats best for YOU! Not what the doctor is threatened by... ive had hit or miss times with doctors. One despised anything but the SAD (standard American diet).. Another cheered me on for sticking to carnivore (even while i struggled with Binge eating disorder) Some doctors have some strange bias to diets, they dent know everything. Eat the way your body needs!!!

Protein- you arent worth arguing with. Find a different app to troll.

Protein- nah, its just pointless to try and explain anything to one who is close minded and argumentative. There isnt only one way to eat. There isnt only one diet. What works for you doesnt work for everyone. What works for me doesnt work for everyone. You have no compassion, no positive influence. You are harsh and judgemental and its not working for you, at all. Therefore, not worth arguing with.
