LadyinDenim's Journal, 29 September 2023

Last night, I fancied myself driving to CVS, dropping off film, buying two king sized candy bars, and eating them in the car. My next thought was logging the candy, sucking up the weight gain, and talking about it on FS, which I didn't want to do, so imagined myself NOT logging the candy, staying off FS until I recovered my weight loss, and actually spiraling back into binge eating behavior, ballooning up over 300 lb again. So, I decided to skip the candy bars. The habit of logging my food and weight loss progress actually helps me stay on track, so thank you for being there, reading my posts and comments, and regarding me as a fellow on the journey ❤ I could not do it without you 🙂

That's awesome, Lady!!! Tremendous willpower! I woke up during the night last night for a glass of water, and sat in my chair for a second. On the table in front of me sat 3 Mt Dew cans (that weren't there when I went to bed) and an untouched Mt Dew, the son & DIL's stuff (they also cooked spaghetti, but I digress...lol). The Mt Dew looked really tempting, but I said "NOPE. You've come too far to turn back now." I chalked the Mt Dew on the beach trip up to celebration, or whatever (lol), but I know I cannot become comfortable just having something because it's there or it just looks good. I know where that leads for me.

My daughter has a particular soda that she likes but seldom indulges in for obvious reasons but she started diluting an 8 oz can with 8 oz of sparkling water. She says the drink still has the essence of the soda she likes in a more satisfying volume and it does the trick for her. I have not personally tried that method yet but I’m going to next time pizza is on my menu

You're Amazing... Haven't been too tempted yet..but I do eat things sometimes that I now recognize might not be the best choice. The positive thing now is that I'm able to recognize my choices. Before FS eating was a "blur" at times.

Great job! I am glad your will power won out. The struggle is real sometimes and hard to overpower.

Good job! I talk myself out of some messes too. Usually involving ice cream.

@Cheryl, thanks for the positive note ❤ I sometimes think it's harder for small people like you than big people like me, because the gains are less dramatic. I hope to weigh in the 140s eventually, and will need to stay disciplined and celebrate those smaller gains 🙏

@Z, your journey has been on my mind. I am so enamored with the progress you've made, especially with your arms 💪 I got so disheartened seeing my arms in the mirror. I had to remind myself I need to lose another 20 lb to get to your yellow dress photo. Self pity about my 50 lb not being as noticeable as your 50 lb underpinned my binge fantasy (because an 800+ kcal candy detour will help 😆🤣). About the Mt Dew, it is a different animal to intentionally eat off plan, weighing the risk/reward vs eating something "just because it's there." I can't afford to do that either. Writing about it in the FS confessional is like showering off any illogical thinking that sets us up for impulsive food decisions.

Yes logging is a great tool. It holds you accountable.

@Darcic1, thanks 🤗 @Kenna, some people really love flavored beverages, and I glean from your comment that drinking a carbonated beverage enhances the pizza experience for you. I hope it works out, and you can enjoy 50% fewer kcal per serving while avoiding artificial sweeteners. I used to drink pop instead of water. Now, I'm happy with water only. I had one glass of root beer (my favorite) on vacation, and it was okay, not great, just okay.

@rc, I'm not amazing. Fasting is amazing 🙂 It's free and works well. Hubby says I have an iron will, going so many days without food. Honestly, it's easier to practice than daily caloric restriction, because my metabolism always adapts to the lower daily intake, and ramps up my hunger. Maybe if I ate low cal keto, it would be different, but I haven't been able to sustain keto longer than a few weeks.

I'm glad you were able to hold out and not have candy bars. In the last ng run it's not worth it but I certainly get the craving! I have in the past had a mini Reese's or kitkat and it has gotten the craving but it's a crap shoot as to whether it will throw into a carb/ sugar fest so I stay away... I'm proud of you!👍💜

Great choice!!! Like a bank account, our weight is representative of many decisions over a long period of time.. all we can do is continue and consistently head in the right direction!

@RPL, thank you for the support ❤ You are walking around in my goal body. I love your natural colored hair, so I can envision myself executing your planks one day 🤗 @Morticia, I think about you often. We are both nurses and our writing skills are on par. Living in nature with a wide array of fulfilling hobbies is my dream. Dealing with health issues makes each day precious, and you spreading your good will across the FS boards is truly inspiring 😇

@BigOrr, Daddy, and Ed: thanks for the encouragement. Yes, logging is a good discipline. It helps us to make good, consistent decisions that keep us on the path to goal weight.

@Diana, exactly! Some foods are a crap shoot, and we know which ones are our personal bugaboos.

Thanks, Lady, but you are doing GREAT as well! Like I said in my post today, you should never compare your progress with any one else's in that manner. When I was as the beach, when I go to the gym, and even here, I look at other people's body parts. To myself I'm like, "Wow! I would love to have arms like that, or a booty like that, etc." Sometimes, I even visualize other people's body parts when I do a particular exercise for that body part. 🥴🤪🙃 It motivates me, instead of making me feel self-pity. You've got this, sis! This isn't your first rodeo. You know the way... 😘

I'm more curious about who still uses FILM and what's on that film 🤣 I'm proud of you. Passing those cravings is REAL HARD, and you did it. I've been there. I was there last week with that Chinese food. congratulations. keep going!
