LadyinDenim's Journal, 15 July 2023

At 5 1/2 days fasted, feeling good. I think about food a lot and binge watched a Netflix cooking competition show yesterday. My body is feeling so smug right now. She's like, "See? I told you we'd need all this fat one day!" Yes, yes, you're great . . . Shout out to my liver doing a stellar job and kidneys, too. You guys are great, I can't do it without you. I need to research a bit to find foods that specifically support the liver and kidney. They deserve a treat.

I'm sure your liver is losing fat today, and probably very happy about that.

I have been hungry a lot lately. Not sure why but something must be triggering me.

@Morticia, I don't know how you are able to eat only one cookie, only 2 squares of chocolate. Try cutting out your snacks and adding more protein and fat at mealtimes. My body pouted a bit when I first started to cut off my eating after the 6pm dinner, and is used to it now. A few of my buddies will tell you sugar is triggering for them. It might be for you, too. I choose to avoid it for the most part. That being said, I did log two desserts last week. They were normal sized portions and I was able to eat them without generating cravings for more.

I also logged a big 'ole bowl of popcorn. I measure the kernels for the food log and pop it in coconut oil, then add salt and shredded cheese. It's probably the most dangerous food I eat, logging in at 800 kcal with little nutritional value. I have to be sure I am full with meat from my earlier meals and have the calories to spare.

Your doing great….it’s all about keeping the mind in a happy place…away from the picture of food….

I'm a retired R.N. I was never overweight until after menopause and was often too thin. I have a lot of medical problems some of which restrict what I can eat. I am on my doctor's plan though I do cheat some. A diet he designed for me. He is a specialist. I'm a mesomorph - very muscular for a woman. High protein, high fiber, lower salt, lower carb, moderate fat. I am eating around 100gms of proteins a day and my parents both had renal failure plus I am not a meat lover, can't have protein drinks, smoothies, etc. I don't eat cookies every day. I do eat chocolate every day for the medical benefits which my plan allows. I can't tolerate more fat than I am eating nor can my husband. I am not allowed to do keto or Atkins. I am not eating a lot of sugar on most days. I'm a diabetic who is in remission. I have to have snacks due to my hypoglycemia. Today my carbs my macros will be right where I want them as I am over my trigger from the last 2 days which was initiated by eating in town. Desserts are not my triggers - too many carbs and one time and in one day are.

Eating out is a minefield for sure. Happy you figured out why you are hungrier lately, Morticia. I am an RN and keeping my license current so I can work in medical abstracting (HEDIS). Aside from obesity, I have a sturdy constitution and am free from chronic disease. I can pick and choose from a variety of food plans and am advised to be sensitive to those who have to be more careful. Fasting and portion control works best for me and I plan to keep rolling with it 🙂
