Good morning FS Members!

I am looking forward to a snowy weekend after an extremely busy week. The snow may affect some of the weekend plans (dogs to the groomers and visiting Dad), but it will eliminate the typical distractions and I am hoping to get my taxes done.

I have completed three weeks of paying attention to what I eat. I hate to call it a diet and prefer to view it as calorie awareness, nutritious eating, and getting my body back on the road toward health. It has been good - I have lost 8 pounds - and I need to keep it up. I only made it to the work gym once this week opting instead for dog walking as my primary "workout". I need to do better at getting to the gym. There are not only physical benefits, but benefits with my health care payments at work. It seems a little "big brother"y to have work such a big part of my health management; I guess I need to just accept it as face value - it is good for both of us.

Is it too soon to set goals? Maybe. I reviewed my old journals and realized just how focused I was when I lost 50 pounds 2 years ago. Goal setting was a big part of that. I did join a challenge at work - lose 5% of your body weight in 6 months. Shouldn't be a problem. When you are as big as I am, it is easy to lose the weight as a number. As always, the issue is keeping it off.

OK. Here goes. Goal 1: get to the work gym three times a week for the next six weeks. Goal 2: This is a tough one. Lose a total of 20 pounds by Easter. That is 12 more pounds in the next six weeks. It can be done, but it will be tough. Now, reward. When I lose 20 pounds by Easter and establish a workout "routine", I will go on a shopping trip. For me. Anything I want. Not for the house. Not for the kids. Hmm.... jewelry? pistol? So many things to consider!

Have a good week!

Pistol. Perfect. I have a sign in my shop that reads 'I keep a gun because I'm to young to die and too old to take a whooping'. Good goals.
