Katsolo's Journal, 15 January 2023

Hehe, just as FS finally switches to downward, we ate the pie for lunch. logging late as I've been moving since the moment I got up. gonna be a good day even if it is raining. decided to spend my time in the back room and might even turn on the heater for a few if I get chilly. Super short walk between showers last night, kept moving around the house. Too windy for the pool. not complaining about the rain though. we need it too much.

Sadie did her chemo on Friday, she's a little subdued today, but still doing okay. she was so happy to see my mom yesterday, so they're going to spend some time together today and I'll pick her up later. Kitty loaves in front of the fireplace last night. My fireplace is so small I only feel comfortable putting in one fire log at a time. I keep think about converting to gas, but there's just something about a wood fire.

weekend rules. enjoy the day. my one and only New Year's resolution is to take more days off. I like these long weekends. crazy, huh?

Have I been under a rock?? Are these cats new? I’ve never seen them on here before. I feel totally out of the loop. Thought you only had three dogs. Only. 🤭🤭🤭

Such a cozy crew here! 😍

lol, the cats are ten years old. Twin boys. Smokey and Rocky. Hogan always wanted to eat Smokey, the white one, so they live behind a baby gate. Chance likes them, but he still plays too rough, so they only interact with supervision until he calms down. He’s pretty good, but I don’t want to let anything happen in an uncontrolled chase.

Siamese mix and a Snowshoe.

We had Siamese/Burmese growing up. So beautiful. Had not heard of Snowshoe, looked this up ... Cool!!!

I love Burmese. They are such lovebugs and they’re so soft.

Absolutely loved those cats. (They lived close to 20yrs) They also had Burmese voice instead of the Siamese howl. Funny the things I remember. The other day when you mentioned fostering kittens to get them 'socialized' I actually looked into it! All fostering positions for kittens and cats are waiting list only. So no little ninja's for me!

Love the animals! I hope Sadie keeps doing well with chemo! Sending love for you guys!💜 I agree with you about fire places. We live in an older house that has a wood burning fireplace and we use it all the time! 💜

they're great cats. I always liked Siamese because they acted the most like dogs and dogs didn't work for our lifestyle growing up. we'd sneak my Siamese into hotels in a backpack for years. she was an amazing creature. so smart, too. there will always be more kittens, just get on the list. if not one rescue, try another. all of our shelters are currently overloaded down here.

Your fireplace doesn't look small to me, more of a standard size. For us the issue is age. Our little cabin in the mountains was built in the '50s and being in California there have been many earthquakes and a tree fell on part of the cabin and porch. Yeah, and the side is sinking somewhat. Since the fireplace has a lot of cracks we never build a big fire, but probably use 2 or 3 logs maximum. My husband installed a gas line in the fireplace so there is just one flame source. I love it because we use it to start the logs and even to slowly keep them burning if they are too green. Too bad we haven't even been up there in '22 because of his labored breathing. It's over 6000 elevation. Our property is only 30" wide but I love the trees.

I need a bit of education as to what the numbers following your comment mean. Is your total weight 169? Do you have a scale that tells you all that info? Sounds like your determined to meet your health goals. Congratulations on your progress & best regards to your wife.

I do miss my fireplace and real logs. Hope Sadie continues to respond well. I'm glad the reservoirs are filling up, but at what cost to people and property? Stay safe.
