I have to figure out how to keep myself in a routine of healthy eating habits and at least a little exercise regardless of what life throws at me, because it seems like my life is in a constant state of change anymore. I suppose it's always been that way, life changes, but either it's more noticeable now that I'm older or things are truly changing more often, or the changes are just bigger. I posted in January that we had moved. Later in the month we had to make an unplanned trip back to the mountains due to the death of a good friend ours. Then in April, the day before my youngest son's 18th birthday, my Mom unexpectedly passed away. We were already planning a trip up there for his birthday, but I ended up staying over a week to be with my Dad. Fortunately, I have siblings still there that are helping him. We made another trip up for my son's graduation and I stayed another week then. In between those two trips, I ended up getting hired on at a local veterinary hospital, which I started on June 9. We've had a lot of company since it's summer time now and we live close to the beach! The kid decided he was ready to move down here, so after getting used to be empty nesters, we now have an 18 yo back in the house, lol. Since starting work, I have actually lost a few pounds since the only break I get is lunch and I am up and down, running around all day. I have a small, healthy breakfast, usually take leftovers from the night before for lunch and then dinner with a glass of wine. I'm so exhausted from work tho, trying to do any specific exercise is not in the cards. It's too hot and humid, even in the early morning for me to walk the neighborhood these days. I do occasionally make it to the beach in the evening for a walk, but I mostly hit the beach on my day off and just chill. Working more hours now than I have in years is an adjustment at my age. I'm really hoping that life's major changes will take a break for awhile! If I can find something to help me sleep better, I'm hoping to get myself into a better routine and not be so exhausted, then I can hopefully add some daily exercise, even if it is just a walk around the 'hood. I believe that's been the hardest thing is the constant waking, whether it be from night sweats or from pain. I don't feel my body is getting the rest it needs. Until then, I'll keep plugging along and appreciate each day and whatever weight I manage to lose. I also adjusted my goal, as I don't feel at my age it's reasonable to expect to lose down so much. My new goal is more realistic and if I go beyond it, then it will just be the cherry on top. At this point, ten pounds will be considered a win.
156.8 lb Lost so far: 11.2 lb.    Still to go: 21.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I believe that you’ve got this. Yes, there is even a different weight chart for the elderly (not saying that you are near there!). I believe that as we get a little older we need a little reserve in case illness comes. So an adjustment sounds reasonable.

I remember you very well and know you have the power to get back to where you want to be.

Keep plugging away. Life can be very hectic, full of twists and turns, mountains and valleys. Getting older, getting wiser (mostly getting older speaking about me that is)
