Well....
I let the Holidays get the best of me... UGH.. and i gained 2.5 lbs.. that sucks.... why is it so much easier to gain weight than lose it??? My Fiance didn't do so hot either.. lol.. we are both trying to diet.
Anyhow... even though I did give in and eat all the things I vowed not to eat, I was still proud of myself. I learned more from this experience than anything.
Rule #1--Don't stand near the appetizer tray or deserts and talk to family while waiting for the bird to get done. (I did this and some mindless munching on many things I wish I hadn't at my mom's house.)
Rule #2. Don't go back and get seconds because everything is soooo good or you didn't get to taste everything on your first plate. Try to sample everything on your first plate and get very small portions, just enough to taste. ( I didn't get seconds at my mothers on Saturday! Go me! I usually go back and get more. I let my food sit, and I felt I didn't need to get more)
Rule #3--Just because there are leftovers, you don't have to take them home. (I was always taught not to waste food, and I knew that if I didn't take some leftovers, that it would go to waste. I couldn't do that knowing there are people starving in other countries. At my mother in laws I took some food home on Thursday, and by Saturday I was ready to take some more home. I didn't plan on taking anything but turkey home, however, it just didn't play out that way.
-At my soon-to-be mother-in-law's house, I started off good...but went downhill. I avoided potatoes and bread for like 3 hours, then I ate some crescent rolls... :( I didn't do so well on what I took home either. I got some turkey, my low-carb deviled eggs and some salad. Except I was guilted into taking home some cracked bread... for those who have never eaten it, it is like a loaf of bread, slice 3/4 the way down and in between each slice it is layered with melter cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon. No one ate any while we were there (most everyone was on a diet) so I took some home. I should have just thrown it in the trash when I go home to keep from eating it, but I didn't.. I ate it. My little voice in the back of my mind kept saying "there are starving people....." BLAH! ok.
--At my mom's I did good when I fixed my plate, didn't go back for seconds.. but like I told you earlier... I did some mindless munching before hand at the appetizer and cookie table... so ruined that before I started. And to top things off, my mother made me some extra plates to take home with me. Deserts and all. :/
Well it took me about 3 days to eat all the leftovers and so here I am trying to get back on the wagon.. Yesterday I went to the grocery and stocked up on all my healthy food again and started the day off right.
Here's to getting back on the wagon!
