Alcohol will definately make you retain some fluids, no matter how little the amount. Don't let yourself get too discouraged. Keep up the good work and the weight will go down.

With that and your tubing trip, I'm guessing you're still a little dehydrated, right? Don't worry. Keep doing the good things and good things will happen!

Don't dwell on daily weigh-ins...trust me. There will be times you look at the scale like "WTF" but if you just keep at it, things always balance themselves out over time. I've seen fluctuations of as much as 4 pounds from one day to the next & almost gotten frustrated, but after a couple of days it melts back off. To measure progress I'd say don't focus on chunks any smaller than a week, & just use the daily weighins as a tool to learn how your body responds to different choices. And congrats on the new gig!! So excited for you!

Congrat's on the new job!!! :) Don't let the scale ruin how YOU feel.....remember it's ONLY a number!!! Like I said I personally am ONLY mentally strong enough to jump on the scale about once a week....any more...I'd drive myself crazy with the ups and downs!!!

Thanks, guys. Being unemployed for the past year has been really tough on me (and on my body/waistline since I've been in the dumps about not working.) The great thing is that this job is so ridiculously close to me (3 miles) that I could eventually cycle there and will have time to go to the gym - even with grad school responsibilities. I seem to always lose weight quicker when I'm working, I have no idea why.

congrats on the job!! maybe it's just cuz you can focus on other things than worrying about a job/food! but that is exciting to be back to work! best of luck with everything!
