Lucybell33's Journal, 18 June 2008

I've got so much to update you all on, I'm going to have to break it up over a couple of days!

Let's start with the first half of the week. Diet-wise, I tried increasing my calories an an average of 100 cals per day, and I maintained my weight up until the weekend, despite it being TOM and my exercise plan going out of the window with so little free time for anything. So, I did achieve my original ultimate goal of being at or below my final goal weight in time for Finlay's 2nd birthday!

I had a Girls' Night Out last Tuesday to organise our week away at a health spa - my treat for losing all this weight. It's all booked, which is incredibly exciting! Myself and my two best friends are going to Champneys Henlow on 6th July for a Traditional Week, which should be blissful - I can't wait!! Here's a piccie of the three of us from my wedding day:

Thursday was Finlay's 2nd birthday, and although I had to work, it was a working from home day, so I got to spend a bit more time than usual with him morning and evening, plus I popped over to my mum's to see him again at lunchtime. Mum took him to our local activity farm, which is what we did on his 1st birthday, and he loved seeing the tractors in particular (his current favourite thing!). Here's my favourite photo from his birthday:

One little story I thought you'd appreciate. I had to pop into a supermarket on Thursday to pick up a few extra bits for the weekend and I was in the cereals aisle studying the nutritional info on the cereal bars. Anyway, a lady next to me was doing the same thing, but couldn't make out one of the numbers, so asked me if I'd check it for her. We got to talking about how careful you have to be with these products, because so many of them are actually not very healthy at all, and she told me she always went for the organic cereal bars for the healthiest choice, which were across the aisle. She was really nice and walked over with me, and we chatted about the ones they had. The very best one, she said, were the Doves Farm Low Fat Fruity Oat Cereal Bars - and here's the best bit - she said, "not that you need low fat bars, of course"!! Music to my ears that was, as you can imagine! I did of course have to tell her how I'd lost five stone over the course of the past 11 months, and she was amazed, saying she just couldn't imagine me at 15 stone (coincidentally her own weight), and that I just looked like someone who was just naturally slim. So, needless to say, I long discussion on how I'd done it resulted, and I left the store beaming!!

I still haven't finished sorting all the photos from the weekend, but I'll try to do them tonight if I have time after this evening's massage/facial/pedicure (this month's pampering treat!) and give you all a further update tomorrow. I'm also going to make a concerted effort to try to catch up with at least some of you - I feel very out of the loop after a week away from my buddies. Must go get ready for work now, but I'll try to check in again later!

Enjoy!

That encounter in the store was very encouraging! It is fun when people reply that they can't imagine us overweight. Your pictures look beautiful too. Your getaway week sounds so wonderful and renewing! What a treat! You earned it for all your hard effort!

Firstly congratulations on achieving below goal in time for Finlay's 2nd birthday! Aw, I bet you can't wait to go to the health spa with your friends and truly deserve that treat. Your wedding photo of the three of you is absolutely beautiful - you'll now have to take an updated one at the health spa of the totally transformed Leanne! Glad to hear that you managed to spend time with Finlay on his birthday... he's such a cutie and you can just see how excited he was. Aw, that's lovely that the lady in the store made your day... but I bet that you also provided her with the inspiration that nothing is possible if you put the work in. ;o)
