I know right? Even at my skinniest I just barely fell into the 'healthy' weight range for my height. It's hard for some of us to hit that arbitrary range.

I have to hit 132 to be healthy. I'm not sure if I will ever hit the healthy stage. Is it possible to lift up a calf that weighs just as much as you do and not fall over?

I'm still considered about 10 lbs overweight but I just don't see how I would ever be 120.

I don't see why you would want to be that small. Unless you think hip bones are sexy. I think I would be happy hoovering around the boarderline healthy range. 130 sounds like a good weight. Then again.. 160 sounded like a good weight at 190. Now.. 150 sounds good. Next will be 140.

I'm a huge fan and advocate of outdoor cardio. Maybe you could jog around the farm for a lap or two? Trail running's my FAVE and has definitely yeilded the best cardio results for me. Although when I go, I layer up with a fat-boy belt, and layers on top. You know, hooded up all Rocky-style. Side question, does cow-tipping actually work?

Don't be jealous of my gym time; I only have free time because of health issues that make me unable to work; been on disability several years. Now THAT sucks serious monkey butt, lol. Now if I could make a living by going to the gym for an hour a day & cooking a few meals, I'd be set! Hmm, can you listen to an Ipod & turn your work around the farm into a workout? Jogging in nature would be good, though during bad weather it would be nice to have a half hour of you-time to do a kick-butt workout Dvd or whatever gets your feel-good chemicals released.

I'm jealous of farm life! I don't go to the gym, but I've got my ellipti-satan parked in front of my TV. I hate the acursed thing, but still will get on it for a bit while I'm watching my shows- BTW, 'Teen Wolf' was amazing motivation for me, for some reason. (o_O) Anyways, I hear the 15 minutes here, 15 minutes here can be better? Maybe I'm wrong. Life forces us to adapt as necessary, do what you can and do it well. You still lost weight and that's the good thing!

I think another benefit to what you're deeming an "actual workout" is knowing that you're doing the right thing. It's probably easy for you to forget how hard you're working on your chores. I have a calorie burn device and I was always shocked at how much I burned doing housework and cooking compared to lifting weights - it wasn't a huge difference like I'd expected. I agree its nice to haev a dedicated workout but don't discount all the hard work you do!

What you're doing everyday at the farm is called "funtional fitness". People in the city pay a lot of money for this kind of training. You get it for free! Serioulsy, there is no better workout than farm work...

Yes the gym helps but you are doing more than I do everyday without any extra! You yourself said how you can eat so much more. I go over 1200 and the pounds pack on fast. Watch out for CJT... He has no clue what upstate ny weather is like lol. Besides the baby issue and farm life ;-). Dedicated workouts are good for me mentally buy sometimes I can burn even more just keeping busy (which you always are!) You are def in need of some "You" time, whatever form it may take. Lets do Panera some Friday! (And we will go for a walk after if it's not too cold!!)

CRAP - Senior writer at work just announced he's leaving. I want his title. Looks like I'm going to be trying to earn brownie points from now on to try and look extra impressive. Hello extra work hours.

CJT - Um.. if you can push over a 2000 lb animal without it kicking you then I suppose it could work. I've never tried. The vet has a cool trick with ropes that can get a cow down though. As for the outdoor jogging.. I'm pretty sure having a 18 lb baby in a carrier strapped to me running around the fields would kill me. I get leg cramps after 100 jumping jacks... might be worth a try though while the weather lets me. I'm sure little man would love it. If I die.. its CJTs fault.

Anyone jealous of farm life.. maybe I should open a side business called farmers life. You can come stack hay, clean out stalls, shovel feed, and paint the barn. I won't even charge you. Wait.. you'd be taking my weight loss routine from me and I would probably gain. I'm sure any farmer in your area would love the free labor though!

Thynes - Panera it is! Not to sound weird but never been there. Now I have an excuse to check it out. As for the working out. I think I'm being down on myself for not doing it because of stress. I need to get one of those calorie burned thingys so I can see what I burn in a day. Maybe then I will realize how much I do.

Ok, so here's the deal... We are going to open a winery, the farm next to it and then teach "classes" for weight loss and free labor! Then we would have time for the gym we would build in the back as a stress releiver with out HOT trainer and then go drink wine because we burned so much!

Love the plan! Plus wine has special heart healthy something or others right? So technically.. a winery is kind of a health store.

You definitely have a good workout, but I know what you mean. I used to have a very physical job that kept me in good shape, but it always felt good to go to the gym or do a DVD at home and get that "real" workout in. I had to make time for my workout, I'm up around 5 to workout in the morning, but I do DVD's, no gym or running. That was hard to get used to but I did it. With your chores, a job, and a family, I can't imagine squeezing in a workout. I do like your farm workout idea, that is actually a good idea. You could make lots of money and make women feel great!

First - GO for the senior writer gig! You can OWN that. Your journals here are absolutely fantastic and you have a tremendous voice. I lead corporate comms for a global professional services firm and writing is actually a rare talent in the business world, which seems to be chock full o' MBAs who are more comfortable with spreadsheets than actual complete sentences. It's no wonder I see so many proposals in Powerpoint, bullets and sentence fragments. Also, I wanted to add that the so-called "time" I carve out for workouts (well, walking or hitting on the treadmill) is probably less than the time you dedicate to running the farm, and so I am TOTALLY jealous of your opportunity to do so! My day is desk job/housework/kids' needs/sleep. But I like you, so I won't say you suck monkey butt... today.
