Dave Van Horn's Journal, 05 September 2018

So here is a question for anyone who is familiar with the Keto Diet. I'm allowing myself 25 carbs per day, and just prior to dinner I was a 4.15 carbs for the day. I had a small helping of mashed potatoes with dinner which I normally would not have but because of amount of carbs I had remaining, I elected to do so. The mashed potatoes worked out to 20 carbs less 1 carb for fiber which gave me a net carb total of 19 plus the 4.15 carbs earlier in the day and I am at 24.15 carbs. My question is, does anyone know if taking so many carbs at one time is detrimental to the diet or not?

it is a matter of testing your tolerance, most do not have potato's on keto as it is a starch. If it does not bounce you out of ketosis then you are fine. You don't need the carbs I was frequently at 10 or lower

Your body should provide the answer through how you feel over the following two days. The scale may also give an indication over the following three days. If nothing noticed, it may work for you. If you get an unusual urge for more food, or make you feel weak, it may not. Typically a starch can put sticks in the wheels on an otherwise smooth ride. After awhile of healing, your tolerance should get better.

Some people can handle the extra carbs, some can't, you just need to experiment and see what works best for you !!! Your body will tell you !!

yeah the point is to not let your blood sugar spike so having so many in one sitting will make it spike so it's a no no. you might still lose weight BUT if you want maximum results you need to stick to the list of approved veggies for your carbs

Here's a good explanation if your interested on insulin/glucose carb fat storage. But if I really wanted those carbs, I personally think having them once, then fasting is way better than spreading out during the day. https://youtu.be/SzcOz38FjaU
