mrsgruffy6666's Journal, 08 August 2018

Whinge and win, right? Last night I wrote a journal entry about being stuck on a plateau, and even in fact, gaining weight over the last few weeks or so. This morning, I weighed myself and I was 92.6 kg - down 2.4 kg from yesterday! I have no idea what that is all about, but I was so doubtful I tried the other scales and they were the same. I bought a set of scales which is supposed to link by bluetooth to an app which gives a breakdown of all the elements of your body. I was thinking it might throw some light on why I've been stalled and even gaining despite very strict adherence to my diet. That's just to explain why I currently have 2 sets of scales! One set are going to be gifted.. I'm not quite that obsessive!

I don't know what happened, and the only difference between last night and other nights is that I didn't sleep. I found Dr Jason Fung's book "The Obesity Code" was available as an ebook at my local library, so I started to read and couldn't "put it down" - not really true, since I was reading it on my monitor, but it's really interesting and it's a whole new way of looking at things - it kinda poops all over the calories in/calories out people and explains why very well and very easily for a relatively non sciencey person like me!

This is what a lot of people say is a "whoosh" you might be stuck for a couple days, weeks, then it just comes out of no where..keep on track, hopefully it will continue..

yes and also take a close look at what you have been eating or not eating the past couple days. something that is missing that you normally eat could be a cause for retaining water or causing your stall. you never know what causes a stall or slow down.

Congratulations on your WHOOSH! The book "The Obesity Code" changed my life. The last half of the book basically deals with fasting.

Got to love that whoosh! Congratulations to you for sticking with it through the frustrations of a plateau.

I've decided that plateau's are just mind-f_cks designed to challenge us even further. Glad you stuck with your plan and held out for the win! #stickwithit

The top 3 that cause stalls are fake sugar, too much protein, and dairy. At least that's from my experience. I never figured any of it out 😁

Thank you all so much. It's incredible to log on and read such supportive messages. I have a very boring diet, and it doesn't change at all. I eat above ground vegies with butter and about 200g of fatty meat (pork, chicken thigh fillets, lamb chops, marbled steak each day. I drink water, cold brewed green tea and 2 cups of coffee with a tblsp of cream - just can't do black coffee! I don't do sweeteners of any sort because they all drive my blood glucose levels up. I eat until I'm full once each day. I mean - until I really can't eat any more full. I hope that in time, my insulin levels will drop and the weight will come off faster. It's taken me 5 months to lose 11 kg on this diet, but I am determined to stick to it and get to my goal. I am 52 years old, and my motivation is avoiding all the awful long term consequences of T2 diabetes. I have been fat since puberty, and just getting fatter. I've even had weight loss surgery (20 years ago). I think the fear of losing my legs or my sight and becoming a burden on my family is a great motivator. Thank you all again so very much!
