Had a really great night with friends last night. Hotpot & Sake tasting! Today I am off on a 10 mile hike to Melakwa Lake. This will be the first time I have my pack fully loaded (5 day’s worth of food, water, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, stove, emergency supplies, and spork! Should be fun!

Great - practicing with a heavy and full pack is a great way to train for the Ranier trip. I am so jealous! It will be so beautiful. Is your spouse backpacking with you?

Thanks -- the hike went really well! I can get my wife out sometimes -- but not for the backcountry trips.
