Herbie's Journal, 01 March 2008

My weight is staying steady, which is good. I have been eating ok in terms of maintaining good portions and having healthy/balanced meals, but I have not been following the diet. I'm finally healthy now (after having all kinds of winter sickness junk for the past 2 months) and am ready to start working out again.

I'm considering re-setting my goal to either 125 or 120. That would be pretty challenging for me, but maybe re-setting like that would be useful to get my motivation up again. I'm glad for all the success I've had, but I also would like to finally get rid of more of the "baby belly" that I'm still hanging on to.

Any thoughts or advice?
128.0 lb Lost so far: 42.0 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

You've proven yourself thus far... if you chose to continue on, you CAN DO IT!! Chose to do it and attack it!! Find a workout plan that works for you and get back into the swing of things and it'll all fall into place before you know it! GREAT JOB maintaining thus far!! :)

I know that you are perfectly capable of reaching any goal you set for yourself. You have already shown that you can accomplish whatever you set your mind to do. I'll sure be here to cheer you on to reach any goal you set. I myself just set my goal at 130 because I didn't think I'd ever reach it, but once I get there I will definately re-set my goal lower. I have no idea what your height or ideal weight is. Your doctor would be a good one to ask about ideal weight. I also read that people who are 5 lbs "under" the ideal weight are healthier and live longer lives.

Thanks for your support, BT and Janelleas. I'm not very tall (5 ft. 3), so I think that 120 would be an agressive goal for me but well within a healthy weight range for my height. I understand what you mean about re-setting your goal. I did a similar thing earlier --my original goals was set for about 5 or 10 lbs higher than it is now. Goals need to seem reachable, I think, otherwise it's too easy to get discouraged. Anyway, I appreciate your support.

It might be that you could keep your weight but gain muscle and lose fat. I had a friend the achieved that through very intense workouts. Sorry that I can't offer more.

I'm 5'2 and my goal was like yours (set by my doc) at 130. Without really trying now, more weight does keep coming off. I think it wouldn't just "come off" unless it's extra weight to begin with. I'm happy with the scale and my success, as you are, but I think if we work out & eat healthy we just might be able to pull off a few more pounds. We are shorties after all. I am sure if there's weight to come off, YOU CAN DO IT.
