With the new year comes new year resolutions. The only problem is I have been setting the same resolutions for the last 5 years. They would be to get out of debt, lose weight, and stop cursing like a drunken sailor. The thing is..... I weigh more than ever, I'm still in debt, and I curse like a drunken sailor with turrets now. My resolutions seem to be slipping slowly but surly into a gutter filled with manure. So what do you do when your life is slowly slipping into the cow poop? Simple. You change everything, have a breakdown/clarity of mind moment, and set a new resolution.
My resolution this year is simple. Be the best me I can be. That has to be achievable. Seeing as I have no clue who I am at this point in my life I should be able to improve something to be my best self. I'm not sure what that thing will be so instead I'm living with the mantra "I will be the best me I can be in 2018." I put in the year incase this whole being the best me I can be turns into a horrible train wreck. Oh wait. I'm already a hot mess. How bad could being a train wreck be?
So far I'm doing marvelously. I still curse like a sailor but I do it calmly without as much anger.. ok there is still anger when the jack monkey cuts me off and almost causes me to spin off the road but I'm getting there. I have worked out 3 days in a row. I got a Fitsperation journal. I cooked a meal that didn't come from a box and wasn't fast food. I even decided I need to take care of me more and be more kind to myself. This was how I managed working out 3 days in a row and validated me taking time for myself and my body and my butt that really needs to shrink so I can be healthier and move towards that whole best me I can be thing.
As part of this whole movement to improvement, happiness, and health I'm also thinking about reviving this journal and the blog so I can document all the things I try in order to find myself during this fun little midlife crisis that I'm having. I want to rediscover who I am and how I tick but doing that with the same old name that isn't me anymore doesn't seem fitting. The name Lost in Confusion is already taken. Poop.. I wonder if PixiePoop&FairyFarts is available.

I had missed your posts, and humor. We all struggle with something and we just need others to support us along the way. Happy new year......you're back.

It's almost like I read my biography! Lol! Good luck to you, many of us here are on the same boat. I can totally relate to having the same resolutions for years on end and never achieving them. The goal now is to be better than I was yesterday - not perfect, just better :)

I'm new here so if I'm repeating what has already been said, forgive me. Here's how I overcame some of the problems you mentioned.
First, years ago I cut up all my credit cards. I do have a debit card but I can't buy anything unless I actually have $$$ in my bank or in my wallet.
Second, I am happy to be me. Not that I settle down with a giant bag of chips or a big carton of butter pecan ice cream and don't come up till it's empty (I can't be the only one who has done this). But "I yam what I yam," God's creation and He doesn't make mistakes so this is me in the body He gave me, and it's my job to take care of it to the best of my ability. I'm a work in progress.
About the language: some years ago I had a supervisor who charged me a quarter every time I used the F word or the S word, among others. I quickly changed my language, only cost me a few dollars (less than $20 some 30 years ago).
Finally, relying on a support system: friends, prayer partners, anyone you trust or if not a group like this one - who are on your side and want you to succeed - will hold you up when you're sure that a total collapse is imminent (or you're going into that butter pecan - I'm struggling here and soon going to bed instead of sneaking out for ice cream).
Anyway, this is my story. It works for me. I think it may work for you as well. And as they say in AA, take what you need and leave the rest. Good luck and I hope you're as successful as you imagine.
Hugs, Theresa

Okay, so I clearly don't know how to make new paragraphs ... like I said I'm new here, still learning. So please imagine that there are several paragraphs, just take a breath between each new idea.
Forgive me ...

All the best DFW and yes, let us know what your new name is! @Qktheresa - paragraphs happen in journal entries no problem, responses/comments not at all. It's frustrating at times but we all manage :)

Our pastor challenged us this past Sunday to stand up in front of the congregation and announce a goal you will accomplish this year. I was the first, as I had just posted on FB about it, I want to unplug one day (more like night) a week and read or do something that does not relate back to the cell phone.
There was no NYR for healthier life style as that started back in September. All my FB friends help hold me accountable, so there is not stopping now! They see the post that I post on my journal - the 21 day fix rounds - and they are quite supportive in inspiration just when I need it.
On one of the other FB groups I am a part of, someone has created a 2018 Fitness worksheet which shows the entire year calendar and you can check off the days you workout.
Wishing you much success - and yes, you can do it. Pray for God's strength and guidance. If you want us to hold you accountable, we can ask you each week how you are doing.

You have the right attitude. And your a fine writer. Good sense of humor. Self deprecating. Of course, 80% of weight loss is the result of eating less & properly. Exercise is good for your innards but does little for weight loss. My best trick is to stop eating by 5pm. Don't eat again until 7am. You'll overcome, I'm sure. Best of luck to you.
