Mini rant. Why are some people such babies? When I see posts I don't agree with I either pass on to the next post or may comment that doesn't work for me but glad it does for you. I don't go telling them they are off topic or go reporting them. All things important in our life have an effect on our weight journey. I love reading about your remodels, and kids, and rejoicing in your wins. I also love to share with your disappointments and struggles. Maybe I have been through them or maybe I can just listen and pray. I hope somehow to encourage. For my husband and I, our faith is a huge part of our journey, and encourages us and others. If someone has a problem with that, be an adult and skip the post or say that doesn't work for me but glad it does for you! My faith does not offend you personally any more than your lack of faith offends me! What does offend me is when you try to force your lack of faith and hatred of God on me. And if you don't believe in God, why do you hate Him so much that even His words cause you to lash out?

Anyway, I sat a whole month not losing and in the last couple of weeks I'm down 7 pounds. Yeah! So great is my joy! This verse fits perfectly I think!

Nehemiah 8:10
Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

If you are proposing that folks that do not agree with what you write about should just ignore it - why can't you just ignore them?

And I am pretty sure Jesus had something cheeky to say about it - and He would not look too kindly on you calling those you disagree with "babies" . . .

Right He called them Pharisees and den of vipers, sons of their father the devil, but never babies, is that what you prefer lessfatfor50?

I'm sure that there can be many arguments made for reasons to hate God and his word, famine, disease, etc. I think that your post is sort of hypocritical. If faith helps you in your journey, that is awesome, but don't complain when others don't agree, just as you would want them not to complain about you. :)

Nice drop! I personally ignore things I disagree with. The is especially true for statements of faith. It's a personal belief and everyone is entitled to their own. Keep the faith and keep moving forward.

As someone who is not Christian (I'm actually Pagan), I could not agree more with Dorindam. Even if personally I am rather put off by journal entries that mix faith with weight loss, all that I do about that is skip that post and go to the next - after all, it's that person's choice, it's that person's moral support, and as long as it doesn't harm anyone, I don't see why it's anyone business. It's their journal, and they are kind enough to show you what works for them, in the hope that if you are sharing the same faith, it might work for you too. It's not like they're going around commenting to other people's journals in preaching mode. Let's try and be civil and respect everyone's right to believe what they want to believe in. Faith is a personal choice, and a journey that nobody else can walk for you. Respect that.

Stay strong in your faith dorindam59! Christianity is not popular in our country today and Christians are often negatively stereotyped by our media. My mini rant: Digital conversations often disintegrate into insults when people disagree with another person's point of view. Exchanges of ideas are great in my opinion but insulting a person stops the intellectual flow and feeds emotional responses.

I say stick to your buddies and if you cant say anything nice then don't post at all.. This is Dorindam's post and she is entitled to her opinion as much as you are entitled to yours. If you dont like something some one is posting , keep your negativity to yourself bc Fat Secret is meant to help and encourage people not beat them down about something you don't agree with. If posting about faith, kids , work or whatever helps your , then post it. All of life's day to day activity's effect us and can trigger unhealthy eating habits and if coming here to vent, anonymously keeps you from driving to DQ then by all means post it. And Less than Fat 50, she shouldnt have to ignore responses on her post.. you are just pushing her buttons for no good reason.. and should not be posting just to stir sh!t up..

Oh, and LessFatFor50, I do just ignore those who disagree, but the babies are the ones who feel compelled to comment on my post and say Waaahh I don't like what you write and Waaahh you shouldn't be allowed to write that and Waaahh I'm going to report you Waaahh! I would never go onto someone else's post and say Your diet is stupid! You have to do it the way I do it! If you don't believe in God you will get fat and die! I'm much more adult than that!

Thank you dayberndt. I do not force my belief of faith or diet on anyone here, and my faith forms my entire life. I am not perfect but working toward that and share what works for me. If it helps someone else on their journey, great! But its in all our differences that I grow. If everyone were exactly like me, why would I need anyone else in my life?

For the record, you're not "being an adult" or "ignoring" anything when you post a bitter rant against atheists.

I figure my journals are mine, if someone chooses to comment I either pay attention to their comments, or not. I've learned many valuable things from others comments in the 3 years I've been active on this forum. I feel badly when things turn into a battle. I end up choosing to no longer participate in that discussion. Everyone has to find their own way as to what works for them, I think postitive suggestions give lots of food for thought. Any plan to work has to fit the life of the person, if it doesn't they will probably gain any loss back. Sometimes we give hard advice like cut out the junk food after looking at someone's food diary--it's constructive advice. Junk is not healthy.

This country and civil discourse being torn apart by politics and religion. Certainly has no place on this blog in MHO. First I'd ever seen that since I have been using Fat secret. Need to focus on our commonality not our differences. This is not a political or religious blog. It's about diet, weight loss and health issues I thought.

Absolutely, dorindam. My best friend is Catholic, and our different faith has never stood between us, and I have many Christian friends. Moreso, many of my Christian friends and neighbors would come to me for comfort and/or counselling (I am also a minister of my faith) and it doesn't bother them at all. From a strictly academic point of view (and take this from someone with a MSc in History of Religions and another one in Comparative Religions), most of the religions in the world are based on the same principles, most of the prophets or leaders of various religions taught the same exact principles of life, everything else that is negative and affects human interpersonal relationships is created by humans. Let us just try and focus on why we are here - we're not here to put down, criticize, argue or anything - we're here because at one point in our lives we have found a common goal, and that is to lose weight and lead a healthier life. Let's just focus on what we have in common - because FS is, after all, the ground in which we all found others who are able to understand what we have gone through and understand our struggle, because they are going through it too. Let's leave negativity outside of FS. And, Kathryn, you wanted something funny. Here ya go. God looks down and notices that Adam is all alone while all the animals have companions, so he decides to create a companion for man as well. He comes to see Adam and says to him, "Adam, you are my greatest creation and therefore, I am going to create for you the ultimate companion. She will worship the very ground you walk on, she will long for you and no other, she will be highly intelligent, she will wait on you hand and foot and obey your every command, she will be beautiful, and all it will cost you is an arm and a leg." Thinking for a few moments, Adam replies, "What could I get for a rib?"

Congrats on your weight loss hun xx Please ignore those purile people who need to down you to make them feel good about themselves. We are all going through our own personal struggles, keep those who bring positiveness in your life close and ignore those who only bring pain and negativity. Stay positive and keep up the good work :)
