GilmoreGirl's Journal, 14 April 2010

I'm keeping a positive attitude today. I ate a weird lunch! I always make interesting food combinations the week I'm on my period. This week is apparently no different, despite being vegan now. Today's lunch was: 1 cup refried beans, 1/2 cup salsa, 3 (yep, 3) whole wheat tortillas, 16 wheat thins, 5 pieces of dark chocolate. I was really hungry! I actually ate all of this slowly and mindfully, and asked myself whether or not I was still hungry every couple of minutes. And my stomache is not upset afterwards.

Intuitive eating is interesting that way! Tonight I will probably not be as hungry as I was for lunch. Or maybe I will be, who knows? The important thing is that I am learning to listen to my hunger, and honor it.

Another positive thing about today's lunch? I'm out of tortillas and wheat thins now. Two more processed foods that I don't plan on buying again. I do plan to find some whole grain alternatives to these when I go to Whole Foods later, because I do love making burritos. But the tortillas that I have been using, though low in Weight Watchers points (which I still think about out of habit), have white flour in their ingredients. I want to get some that are more natural.

Tomorrow is "tax-free" day at Whole Foods, and I'm nervous about the crowds that will bring. It's possible that everything that I want will be gone by the time that I get there after work. Oh, well. I have to go then, because that's such a great deal!
