Bliss2Jessie's Journal, 01 March 2018

So, The Little Man (the 300 lb retired green beret) is a good person and smart, too. Even so, testosterone appears to affect the brain. He won’t “diet” for himself or me, yet would like to lose weight before his daughter’s boyfriend visits this summer...

So I approached him to do it as doing Paleo (you know how you find buffed-up cross-fitiots in the produce department babbling Paleo like a bunch of...well, biddies)==> it’s OK when they sound like Babbling Biddies, but not women.

Meanwhile, I want to do the very low-carb keto. Somehow, however, I can’t get through that brain that I need to have < 20 net carbs per day. He bought hi-protein Clif bars, puts juice in smoothies, and tells me that my morning coffee isn’t breakfast. Sounds like a dietitian stuck in the 1970s.
It’s come to the point, where I just can’t eat some of the stuff he makes. It almost seems ungrateful, but I don’t want to do it his way. I don’t ask him to cook dinner, but he does, and it’s usually ready when I get home from work. (He was recently licensed, is seeking a job.). I succeed more without having carbs around me.

Suggestions?

On the weekends, make your own meals for the week. Put them in the fridge and just heat and eat. Just tell him lovingly that his way is not healthy for you and eat your meal and let him eat his.

I know this is difficult. I'm finding that I just have ask for support and be firm (but loving) about what I need for my good health. Not knowing the dynamic in your home I can only imagine what might work for you, but you might want to have "legal" foods available then gratefully eat what he has prepared and supplement with what you need to round out your meal. It will take some thought but it might cause some behavior modification. Good luck.❤
