GlennM's Journal, 21 January 2008

To Sararay - don't remember where I read about the flaxseed oil - but I'm 100% sure it was that - I've been taking it for years that's why I remember and as I'm 45 and a guy and still have a fairly healthy head of hair compared to my cousins around the same age, I decided to cut out the flaxseed oil and stick with the Omega 3 which I chew and just swallow the liquid of as it can upset the stomach with the capsules... no comments were made about women - just men as it said it had too much estrogen for men - my voice I've been said is very deep and no effects there after years of flaxseed oil usage so slease's husband's voice won't change! Take care - thanks for your input!!! :)

I looked it up because I was curious. You are absolutely right. Flax seeds contain phytoestrogens. You can get the same omega fatty acids from olive oil and avocados. The study I showed that flax seeds per gram have more of an effect on estrogen levels than even soy, though we don't eat as much flax as we do soy. It was very interesting. That means that women who are pregnant or nursing should avoid eating too much flax as well as soy.

Thanks for the information about flaxseed oil it confirms what I read - wish I remember the site it was in some obscure bunch of multiple things on pages I was reading through ... I bet a lot of doctors don't know this yet. I ran across it by chance - but sometimes I think things happen for a reason and it was meant for me to read the high estrogen not good for men so I could get off of it as I'd been taking it for so long - interesting how just looking up something and suddenly info pops up you don't expect that can be beneficial to you - and others - that's why I shared it...:) thanks Sararay
