DW called me at work yesterday afternoon, after her chemo treatment, and asked if I wanted to meet her, my stepdaughter and her ex sister-in-law for supper. I bowed out; I needed to get home, take care of the dog, make some more jerky, and homemade chicken stock from the leftover carcasses (which I did). Plus, I was exhausted already, and I knew that I wouldn't get to bed on time again - since she wanted to eat 45 minutes from home. I told her to go enjoy herself and she did. Playing games with the dog to get him to eat, about drives me nuts. I tried green beans, pumpkin, creamed corn, rice and veggies with chicken stock - wouldn't even go near it. But, if I tore up a piece of bread and poured chicken stock over it, he scarfs it up. He loves non-fat yogurt - even the fruity kind (which at least gives him potassium), and of course, he loves the chicken jerky. I found he will eat the chicken breast canned in water; I pour a little chicken stock over that too. So, I'm keeping him alive. Just wish I could get him to eat some more carbs as the vet suggested. I can't give him anything with more than 1% fat, and that is the tough part. Just like with humans, if it doesn't have fat in it, it's just not tasty enough for him. :)
Didn't run this morning. Figured I needed the rest more than I needed the run. I plan on hitting the pavement tomorrow morning. I had to stop at the local convenience store this morning to get gas, and like a dumb a$$, I picked up a sausage egg and cheese biscuit, and an apple fritter! I wasn't even done eating the apple fritter before I was asking myself, "Why did you do that?" Carbo loading for the drive to work? Come on! That's 5 miles of running right there! Oh well, it is what it is. I'll make myself watch a presidential debate for punishment, or something.
The running is coming along slow but sure. I am really making sure I have a good solid base for running on pavement before I begin to push myself again. I do not want shin splints, pulled hamstrings or any other injury, for the sake of 'fitness'. Been there, done that. It's not hardly fitness, if you're hurt, is it? Been doing pushups and squats; looking forward to getting my universal gym welded and put back together. I just have to 'get er done'.
Well, anyway, weather is nice again, following 2 days of rain - which we sorely needed. Enough rambling. Here's hoping all of my FS friends have a wonamous day! Toodles!
