What a night :-)
First, reflecting on the last week - I did not do too well. Every day was a new beginning and somewhere throughout it I failed myself. Not good. But I am not giving up on myself. Today is a new day and a new start.
I don't like short weeks, everything is crammed into less time. It was quite a run around. and topped of by yesterday.
Heart walk in the morning, 50 miles away, hairdo in the afternoon, 20 miles away but the other direction, and finally, the Pop Arts Ball.
We had a bad storm Saturday morning but the Heart Walk was happening anyway. Since I had initiated our group, was the team captain, I had to show up, no matter what. Only one other person came. Oh well, so be it.
I did not do the whole walk since I had to get to my next appointment. Home, shower, on the run again.
It was fun. A friend of mine owns a salon and we had gone over some hair-does last week. It took about 1 1/2h to get the hair up, without cushions or so. Just pins. It looked fantastic.
The dress was also wonderful, only negative part, I could not close it up all the way by myself *lol* There were some hooks over the zipper, impossible for me to get them into place.
So, here comes the party
What an interesting event. A silent auction was going on with art objects. Nice things but not for me. No room for any of it. Mingling, cocktails, checking out each other - having fun. There were quite interesting styles, from Twiggy to BOHO to myself :-) I got a lot of compliments, some for the dress, some for the hairdo. The silent auction closed at 8 pm and it was dinner and dancing time. Dinner - as usual too many carbs and I was hungry. Not a decent meal all day long because of all the running around.
And after dinner, no one was going to stop me. I asked on of the guys on the table to dance with me... he was kind of hesitant but when we left thank me since he would have never had so much fun without me getting him started *lol*
Music was kind of a disappointment since it was more the 70s than the 60s, a lot of fun anyway... disco, here I come. It took just a little while and I did not care if I had a partner to dance with or not.
The dress was a sauna, polyester of the first generation. A lot of exercise and a lot of sweat. It was worth it.
I went home around 11.30 and have to say, it was fantastic. Good part was I made it out of the dress without any help. Bad part, I had to take the hairdo apart since I was not willing to sleep with all the pins on my head. Still wondering how they did at the time? Sitting while sleeping?
I was so tired this morning. Woke up with some kind of a hangover, headache, upset stomach though I had only one Martini and one glass of white wine, the rest was water. I did not stay up for long and decided to take another rest for 30 min or so until the pain reliever kicks in. Next thing I know, it is 2.00 pm. So, another day and nothing will get done. Need to do laundry, cooking, cleaning, need to tend to the pool and don't' have any drive. Oh well, so be it. Tomorrow is another day :-)
And I repeat, it was worth it!

BTW - I posted a pic in Grand Central

I think you handle things very well considering how busy you are! Been having a little too much fun myself lately! But tomorrow is the beginning of a "normal" week and we can start all over again - again!

Buffy - trying, trying hard. that's all we can do - and don't forget to live while we are doing so :-)

Brittalicious - that's the good part. We have the chance to start all over again, doing it better and succeed :-)

I had to laugh when I read the part about sleeping with the "hair." I am definitely a 60's girl and we used lots of toilet paper...wrapped our little head up completely and with the help of more hairspray than God ever intended anyone to consume, the "do" stayed up for the entire week. Your dress definitely fit the 60's image...I had a dress that I wore to a dance in the 60's...beautiful "sack dress" and loaned it out to a friend a couple of years ago for an event...never saw the dress again but oh what memories. Glad you had a great time...and look at you, a real 60's woman...we were the first to ask a guy to dance!

LOL, the toilet paper around the hairdo. I remember that, kept it from squashing flat with the help of a hairnet. Ahhh, those were the days...Jozette, glad you had a good time. It's nice to let your hair down once in a while, in your case UP Up Up with lots of pins. LOL

Gigi/Gwen- I am sure the hairdo would have stayed but sleeping with all the bobby-pins torturing the scalp? As much as I hated it to destroy the work of my friend, I had to take out every single one. Looked kind of funny the next morning, the back in a normal shape but the front part was still standing up. It really was a helmet made with hairspray :-)))////The dress was nice but *whooo*hot, like a walking sauna. High humidity and dancing did not help at all. Even my dad said yesterday, kind of highly inflammable *lol*. But it stayed wrinkle free and did not attract stains.

Hair pins didn't bother us....after all, we slept with our hair wrapped around orange juice cans for loose waves and rollers with little pins that stuck in your head all night... I am spoiled rotten now...short curly hair that doesn't need anything at night. Glad you are enjoying Gigi and my memories!

Gwen, I sure am. As a child I was always wondering how they did the beehive. We had two ladies at church who showed up that style still in the 70s. Kind of a sight :-)

I have no idea whatever possessed us to think it was the least bit attractive. Obviously, boys didn't want to run their fingers through our long hair...and oddly enough, when the "flip" came in to replace the beehive, we still teased our hair into shape and sprayed it to perfection. No wonder the ozone is in such a state today...it is due to the hairspray sent out during the 60's....lol! Then when straight hair came into style....one would find me with my hair on the ironing board and my college roomate, ironing it to straight perfection. How pathetic we were....
