I need some recommendations!

Short version: I need a food I can eat on the bus as a brunch, something I can eat with my hands and doesn't need to be kept cold. Premade, or a few snacks.

Long version: I've just got my first job in forever, but it's messing with my meals. I'm leaving at 9am back anywhere between 3 and 5pm. I'm travelling for 90mins and I'm unlikely to get a break at work. So I need something that would make a good brunch, something I can either make the day before or something easy like a banana. And that will keep in my bag for hours. I'm not eating bread and I don't want to eat many fruits. One max.

Iv cut bread out completely. What about a tortilla wrap broken into small pieces and Spanish omelette mixed together or tortilla wrap rolled up with favourite filling or just omelette again. Also pack banana for a quick snack to last you till you get home. I can’t think of any other fruit that would keep you content for 2-3 hours! If you enjoy eating porridge there’s a wide variety for On the go. But you would need a spoon for most.

To overcome the cooling problem, have you thought of something like https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0073BS1YG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 plus an ice Pack? With that you could have any manner of salads or make flat omelettes with egg and use as wraps around the usual stuff but be wary as they’re fragile. Carbzone do high fibre, high protein, low net carb wraps which are pretty good but pricy - £4.00 for 8 small ones. If you’re going down the salad route, use some nuts and seeds as a sprinkle. Toasting them improves the flavour and you could pack them in a twist of kitchen roll. My husband wanted to reduce the amount of bread he was eating in his packed lunches so now I cook chicken drumsticks, sausages and boiled eggs. All finger food he can eat while on the road (I peel the eggs, obviously 🤭). Good luck finding something that suits!

Phooka, i can't imagine trying to eat a salad on a bumpy/winding bus. The wraps sound ideal though really. Thanks for the help! I know its difficult Moglo04, i think a wrap and a banana might be a good idea! Thank you x

I've just ordered some wraps to put some turkey and bean salad in, might pop some sweetcorn in there too. And some bananas!

You ever thought about smoothies? You can pick up a decent smoothie maker for about £20 and they come with the cup/bottle. I find smoothies filling and the choices are endless (just don't put Spirulina in them, it'll make you gag), I lived on just them for the first few weeks and was never hungry.

I use the shwartz spices. Steak and fajita are great for chicken strips and even turkey for wrap. Add lemon and cook instead of oil and pile lots of salad in the wrap.

Thanks all! Great ideas right there. I appreciate it. Definitely given me lots to think about for more weeks at work!

A chunk of full fat cheese and some almonds, walnuts or brazil nuts would keep me going all day. Easy pocket food too, no mess, and easy to eat on the go. Wraps (aka unleavened bread) and banana would make me hungry too quickly, but I am lucky, I can't eat them so no worries! :) Good luck finding your perfect solution, we are all so different. ... ...

home made scotch egg all you do Is wrap Amy mince round a boiled egg and cook in oven lovely next day and easy to eat. wraps are amazing the choice I'd endless on fillings. quesadilla as well could be an option just add filling and cheese in between 2 wraps and dry fry and leave to cool or burrito style I tried this recently. filled a wrap with cheap cheese, ham and tomato and cooked in my grilling machine. lovely and kept it together. marinated chicken legs or anything and cooked night before. have you use them so Maggi bags before. stuffed potato skins could be eat with hands. meatballs also or veggie version loads of veg in mix of either add texture and taste. do you eat pitta breads they can be a nice change from wraps

What’s wrong with the proper meal in lunch box..? I also travel often by train or bus and have my meal on the go - chicken breast cut to pieces, broccoli or fresh vegetables and sweet potato or wholemeal pasta. Always weighted, counted and prepared. Otherwise, how you control your callories? Plus, if you miss your time to eat, ypu end up eating more and more and still feel hungry. Don’t be ashamed to eat in public. Good luck
