Sandy701's Journal, 26 May 2012

Walked 3.2 miles in the heat of the mid-morning; DH took doggies out earlier. I felt a bit tired and slow/plodding....a holdover from yesterday...well, really a holdover from most of the week. I'll be VERY happy to take tomorrow off!!!

Went into the pool after walking and it felt GREAT!!! I swam some laps and then just lounged in the water for awhile. I really do think that this week has just been a bit much for me, physically. I can't say that I've been doing a whole lot differently, but I guess sometimes a body just gets overworked to some degree...or maybe it's that in combination with the weather. Summer seems to have come on strong this week with temps in the 90's and Gulf humidity. Anyway, I'll have another can of broth sometime today, along with my usual vitamins and other supplements, and we'll see how it goes.

I agree - I had a hard time working out in the humidity today even though it was a project I'd been dying to get at. Glad you had a nice relaxing afternoon in the pool - it is a holiday weekend after all!

I haven't eaten any broth in a while, sounds like a good idea to hold me over until supper. I do not take any vitamins. Do you feel that they make a difference? What do you take?

Sandy, I hear you on the slow/plodding feeling. The heat and humidity have hit Missouri...95+ and the air is so thick it is almost hard to breath. I saw on Ferlengheti's journal that she said she was shattered, and that is kind of how I feel after this week. And like you, I am not sure what is different, except the weather. I also hit the pool this evening after weeding in the garden. Hope that your day of rest tomorrow helps. Have a great holiday. HUGS!!!

Buffy, the pool was fantastic. Between that and the a/c, well, I think I'm feeling a lot better! Hope you didn't wilt too much in the H&H!

Lisa, it turns out I skipped the broth today. I felt pretty good this afternoon, and got busy with other things, so just skipped it. But it IS on my grocery list for tomorrow!! I've been taking a whole bunch of vitamins and supplements for years.....kind of afraid to stop anything right now - LOL! Anyway, I'll PM you with a list later this weekend.

Stef, I had that same feeling of it being almost hard to breathe! I very rarely have that feeling, but the last 2 days have been that way, even DH mentioned the same thing. I noticed the weather report showing that unbelieveable heat stretching all the way up to Chicago! Yikes! And this is just the START of summer. So glad to hear you've got the pool open and swimmable after the problems you had last year. Hope you enjoy it all this weekend.

It's hot here too -- supposed to be 99 here in the Midwest today. The POOL sounds nice. I thought about a dip but did not want to impose on our neighbors -- even though they have said many times that we have an open invitation. An EARLY morning LEISURE walk might be nice to beat the heat. Have a sweet Sunday!

I actually thought of you and your "can of broth" this morning during our walk around the hospital path. There is a nice path through the hospital property where we have walked for years. We can smell the hospital food. To me the aroma smells wonderfully briney (spelling). That salty "flavor" smells like "home."

I lucked out on my broth for today....skimmed the fatty broth right off the pans of the chicken that was being baked....zapped it in the microwave (to be sure it was cooked thoroughly) and voila! homemade chicken broth!

That humidity will get you every time...its hard to breath and it seems to zap your energy..so glad you have that pool to cool down... I have tried to drink broth and it just is not good..but I'm not a chicken lover either..Hope your feeling better soon..:O)

Hi Bren...we found out belatedly that we've tied weather records Friday and Saturday, so no wonder we felt wilted! I'm taking one more day off of walking (I think...) and then resume everything on Tuesday. Hope you're having a nice weekend.

Hey there Stef! Yes, the weekend, esp. today, is just quiet and relaxing. I had thought to do a 4.4-mile fun run/walk (and so that's a walk for me!) this morning, but after the way I've been feeling in this heat, I'm glad I didn't enter. The increase in heat has just come at a bad time, even though the run/walk was to begin at 7:30 AM. Hope you're relaxing in your pool!

Sandy, the heat is supposed to break here later tonight with some storms, then by Thursday highs in the 60's...crazy, crazy. I like it about 80! lol Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could place an order with the BIG GUY? Guess that would be pretty boring though, huh? Enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend!

Ooooh, I like the idea of ordering! But I suppose then someone else would want heat when we want coolness....might be hard for the BIG GUY to decide! LOL!!!
