moogiemynes's Journal, 21 January 2018

Perhaps I am not as far out of ketosis as I thought. Yesterday, my bg was up a little. Thursday morning, it was 108 mg/dL, which showed recovery from the carb fest on Monday. Friday, it jumped to 137, but I had stopped feeling hunger. Today, it is 134 and I still feel energetic without hunger.

I am trying to find the article(s) I read that explain this, but the closest I can find is the later part of this article:
https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/fasting-blood-glucose-higher

It seems another article explained it better, but I'm going with the thing about the liver and the muscles releasing stored energy. Tomorrow is my weigh in, so we'll see if pounds have been lost. (Quantitative Victory)

In the meantime, there has been another Qualitative Victory. When I squeeze around a certain tight corner in my home, I no longer knock things off of the shelf with my stomach. (I live in a tiny house, so there are tight corners!)

What I have found for my body type is when I keep my carbs under 20 grams a day I lose and it reduces my bg. Carbs turn to sugar as you know so eating them is a losing battle for diabetics. By cutting the carbs your body will use your stored body fat for energy, resulting in weight loss. I was a diabetic for 3 years, this past December I am no longer a diabetic. My endocrinologist and I parted ways 12/3/2017. Good luck!
