I feel like such a failure. Here it is, my last day of training prior to my race, and one of our contract workers brought fresh apple fritters and doughnuts to us, in recognition for helping him on a project. I tapped myself until I was almost unconscious (JK, LOL!) and gave in to the tempation anyway. They were still warm, and oh so good!

I'm glad my race is Saturday; I swear I gain more weight training for an event than when I am not. And no, it's not muscle. That is a lie from the dark side. :) BTW: it is possible for a beginning body builder to gain as much as 4 lbs. of muscle in the first month, but a max of 2.0 pounds a month is more realistic for a seasoned veteran. Here's a tip: If you are 1) not a body builder, and 2) not spending at least 4 hours a day in the gym, and you've gained 3 or 4 pounds, uh, it's not muscle. LOL! But, if it makes you feel better, who am I to rain on your parade? :)

Get back to work, DK! You are being non-productive.

Do not feel bad DK, they sound delicious and made my mouth water through the screen. I gave into chocolate ice cream last night. Lol.

I gave in to a cream donut last night - they had been in the freezer since DH birthday (I bought them, along with others, to take into work, but he had so many, that he didn't take those in). It was delish.... Concession time, I didn't record it on my food diary.... Couldn't be bothered to input it, as it wasn't in the database. :-) your not the only "naughty" one.

You crack me up! I tried the tap thing but it didn't work for me. As for the muscle comment...well I'm content in my lie. lol

Come to the dark side..... believe the lie! I know I do :)

DK - I think you forgot to move your eyes around in a circle and hum and count to 5....

Not just any hum though Erica.... It has to be a 'meaningful' song.... Maybe DK was humming Yankie doodle dandy....

More like, "Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away. Now it looks as though they're here to stay . . ."

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now, It's just a spring clean for the May queen. Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run There's still time to change the road you're on. And it makes me wonder. Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know, The piper's calling you to join him, Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know Your stairway lies on the whispering wind. And as we wind on down the road Our shadows taller than our soul. There walks a lady we all know Who shines white light and wants to show How everything still turns to gold. And if you listen very hard The tune will come to you at last. When all is one and one is all To be a rock and not to roll. And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

Fresh apple fritters? I'd have a hard time with that one too. But I'm going to remember the musical encouragement from Lindsay next time I'm singing "Life is a Highway, going to ride it all night long" to a bowl of ice cream.

I don't think I could resist those fritters either...yummy....:O)

Interesting choice, Lindsay! I wired my guitar up for Jimmy Page effects. Is this one of the songs you're learning in your guitar class?

I used to play this song years ago- I think I still remember most of it. I'm learning a ton of music theory-modes, scales, inversions. It's mind boggling- all the variations in which to play a group of notes! I'm playing a 7 string so I still get confused throwing that extra B string in there.

I have enough fun with 6 strings. I love music theory. When it didn't make sense, it was just rote memorization. When I began to learn the mathematical concepts upon which music is constructed, then it became an artistic expression. I have just as much appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into the making of a good acoustic or electric guitar. I collect them as well. Better at collecting than at playing, BTW.

hahaha. I agree. It's like putting together a puzzle- decoding music theory...only as soon as you finish the puzzle, you have to take it apart and reconstruct it in about 100 different ways. Memorizing the fingering is what's really tripping me up.

You're so funny, DK. So glad you're "fueling" for your race. You should be soooo ready.

Yeahhh get back to work, we know how people get in trouble around here :-) Don't be so hard on yourself, you'll work off the fritter during your race!!! And if I'm not around prior good luck and ENJOY IT!!!!!

Okay so let me think what did you say to me yesterday, let me think, its coming back to me, Oh yeah something like "Eat your meals and quit eating crap. LOL!" Oh wait thats exactly what you said to me ha ha ha. Sorry I really got a kick from that. Hey we all have our days dont we. But like me you will get with the program. But it is muscle I just know it lol. Have a great day.

You mean to tell me that "its muscle" isn't true!!!! Thanks for shattering that illusion. Can I just stay in the dark and believe its muscle and not that candy bar?? And while I'm at it, I'll just keep my rose colored glasses on.
