I did the same thing. I saw my doctor in June 2016 and told him I wanted to lose weight and asked for his advice. I followed what he said and lost 16 pounds in 30 days when I had another appointment with him to follow up. Then in the next 30 days I lost another 7 pounds. So in August or September he told me to come back in 12 months. During that time I gained the 23 pounds back and then was determined to take it off before I saw him again. And I lost most of it, so as far as he was concerned I maintained pretty well for a year. So I basically lost about 25 pounds, gained it back and then lost it again in just over a year. Now I've lost over 40 pounds, and I give the credit to everyone who supports me here on FS, they keep me from giving up. You can do it! Just let us know what you have problems with and you'll get lots of support and suggestions. My personal issue is occasional potato chip binges (Ruffles with ranch dip). But thanks to information from 8Patty about "night shades" I may be able to kick the potato binges. I learned potatoes is one food that can cause inflammation which I have in a big way.

I have kept the 30 pounds off for 2 years now but it took me years to get to the point of fully embracing that I absolutlely had to keep the weight off and exxercise regularly if I wanted to stay mobile in spite of the arthritis. It was a mental thing of accepting it as a lifestyle. Hang in there and just take one day at a time using small, achievable goals. You will get there and ues support is definitely important!

thank you for your support. It means a lot! Went out for dinner last night. Everyone had beer or wine and I managed to stick with water. Today I mixed club soda and tonic water. It tastes like you are having a "real drink"!
