kmartdollie's Journal, 27 March 2012

I think I have some body dysmorphia issues. My whole life, I've always thought that I looked thinner than I was. When I look in the mirror, it is difficult to perceive myself as overweight as I really am. I don't know what it is. I've heard of thin people thinking they look fat, but I've always been a fat person thinking that I am not as overweight as I am. Unless I'm dieting, I avoid the scale. I can gain ten, fifteen pounds and not notice until my clothes are getting tight. I'm having some of those issues now. I've lost 30 pounds but I still weigh 190. I guess I'm ready to be thin already but I am of course no where near that. I'm sick of wearing loose tops and pants that are baggy. I'm tired of all my clothes but don't want to buy more because I want to keep losing. I know I've made progress, but I guess I feel I've made more progress than I have. I look in the mirror and I see my belly and my arms and thighs but they are so much smaller that sometimes I feel like they are smaller than they are. It's so hard to picture yourself right sized, when you've been avoiding it for years. The scale doesn't lie and I still have to remind myself that I still weigh pretty close to 200 pounds.
