Interesting your comment about low appetite day. Sounds like you are listening to your body. I have had some low appetite days but I sort of feel compelled to eat to meet my calories goals. I may have to rethink that

Hi perks- well I'm Keto- as soon as I go up in carbs the munchies kick in. It took patience & dedication to get here. Fat loss on Keto is different than regular dieting or reduced carb though. Calories on Keto are just for vitamins, fiber, tissue rebuilding, probiotics, satiety and so on not really for fuel. So it's important not to eat when you are not really hungry so that the body can tap its fat stores. It took me a few months to become fat adapted and really feel normal on Keto, it was an investment that is paying off in the long run. I used to have the munchies like crazy until I found Keto- but I've always had at least a slight insulin resistance on blood tests so that explains why Keto/ not Keto is so night and day with me. 😊. I did NOT have low appetite days unless I was sick before I got fat-adapted on Keto. 😄

It can be a lot different when burning glucose for fuel. Sometimes a balanced snack when you are just barely hungry can keep you from overeating later. Ya know? It's just so completely different after being in ketosis for almost a year.

That looks soooo good! (Is the pointer about balanced snack preventing later overeating meant in keto or when burning glucose?)

T8U9-I meant when you are burning primarily glucose for fuel- having a small, balanced snack when just a bit hungry can prevent ravenous hunger and/or overeating later (in my opinion). No, deep into ketosis a Tablespoon of cream in my coffee can keep me satisfied for hours- I assume my body is quietly fueling itself in the meantime. Keto is so weird- going for a brisk walk makes me feel like I ate something. 😳 Can't remember how long it took to get to that stage though.

Nice looking food pic Blue...I'd eat that!!! Sounds like you've hit the keto sweet spot...extended fat burning for fuel plus a high level of satiety while in ketosis, nice!!

Thank you BC. I'll keep on. Was overdoing protein and got back into that rage-y must-eat pattern. Cut back, raised fat, feeling better. Glad for reminder that getting to that sweet spot takes time.

I Read your profile. Sorry about the interrupted sleep. I highly recommend Melatonin, 2 or 3 mg tablet or sublingual right before bed. I've been taking it nightly for 20 years. No side effects, completely natural supplement. Deep restful sleep is achieved. When you first start taking it you may have weird thoughts as you drift off or weird dreams. This is ok and to be expected. That wears off over time as you get used to this hormone. As we age, our brains make less melatonin than when we are young, that's why it becomes harder to fall asleep. Children's brains make lots of Melatonin, therefore the explantion of wild dreams, monsters, etc. Get your kids to be more active during they day so they will sleep longer and not wake you up! Just take the melatonin and have a good night's rest!

Sofawny- thank you for sharing an idea and trying to help with my sleep- so kind of you--unfortunately I do not tolerate melatonin, it makes me itch for some reason. I have a special needs child who is on a feeding machine at night and it's impossible to prevent him from moving around, and occasionally causing the tubing to crease which sets off the machine's alarm. There are other issues that come up with him in the wee hours as well. I do not want to sleep through these problems because then he will be deficient in daily calories etc. There are no nurses in my area who wish to work at night so for now, this frequent night waking is simply how it has to be. I take naps when needed during the day. It's annoying but I'm sure one day things will be different. I'm hoping as he matures, possibilities will open up to manage his needs differently. 😊 I didn't feel like boring everyone with these details on a weigh loss profile! 😄
