Dammit. Corn on the cob is a big fat NO. Weight this morning was 159, and by mid-morning, my ankles were water balloons. I'm 99% sure it was the corn, and not the watermelon I reacted to, because the melon wasn't very good, so I only had 2 bites. This afternoon, I was sneezing and coughing, although I think that's more from respiratory allergies than the corn.
On the upside, I had a (slender) co-worker tell me today that I needed to "Staaahp" because I'm getting so small, and several clients comment that they could tell I've lost even more. My collarbones are clearly visible, now, and the 'side-bewbs' are gone. When I stand with my arms down, they actually touch my sides ALL the way down. Odd feeling!
It's been 26 hours since I ate last, and I'm a little hungry, but it's a case of the 'kitty-wants'. I want something, but I have no idea what. I keep running options through my mind, and get a lot of, "Meh..." responses. I keep smelling the char-grilled aroma of last night's chicken, but I'm too tired/lazy to go through the rigmarole of grilling tonight after a busy and tiring day at work.
I'll figure it out, I'm sure.
Wishing you ALL the best,
~Kes

Do you make a note somewhere of all the "no" foods? Only sometimes, we forget if we don't write it down somewhere. Well, I do, anyway - lol!

Argh..I love corn on the cob. I am not allergic but the carbs usually kill me - I do plan to have it once this summer though...in a couple weeks when we have lobster at home. I have lobster flown in once a year live and I cook them. You can take the girl out of Boston but you can"t take the Boston out of the girl!

Hi Doobs! No need to write them down. They are etched into my brain, indelibly! Thankfully, the list (so far) is short. So far, the list includes sugar (duh), short grain rice, corn, and wheat.

Are you OK with long grain rice, Kes? I'm not great with rice at all. Even a small amount seems to send the scales shooting up.

Good idea, Doobrie. If your list gets too long for you to remember, then start writing them down as you think of them or find them.

I posted a few days ago about long grain rice. Jasmine, in particular, seems very benign. Mexican long grain is cool, too as long as I eat it with beans of some sort. Go figure! LOL And so far, legumes of all sorts are a big GO! Yay! I loves me some beans! So dinner tonight ended up being a lettuce wedge salad with homemade thousand island dressing, half a tomato dressed likewise, and a 'country pork rib', which is basically just a chunk of pork butt in a roughly rib shaped chunk. Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and roasted in the convection oven. Kitty-want satisfied! As of right now, I've eaten +/- 3 oz pork, 3 oz lettuce, 3/4 small tomato, and 3 TBS thousand island dressing. I'm FULL!

You should eat a small amount of protein and small amount of veggies every 3-4 hours

@HCB... I'm currently exploring food combinations. Like the Mexican rice-bean combo, it appears that there are combinations that work, and others that don't. Next experiment, before summer is done, will be to have sweet corn solo. No protein, no fat. See what that does. Lobster and corn on the cob...DROOL! Have a load of fun with that, then get back on program. ;)

@LetsDoIt8, on keto, intermittent fasting is a good way to spur fat burning. Eating every 3-4 hours keeps blood sugar spiked for those of us who are metabolically challenged. I have a strong family history if T2Diabetes, so keeping my insulin spikes to a minimum is essential to good health.

Corn on the cob already has some of its own fiber, carbs and protein. @ LetsDoIt8 , you need to pick up a copy of, "The Obesity Code," bt Dr. Jason Fung. There is no true "One way" for everyone. msk is right in that, as a type 2 diabetic, eating and spiking her insulin that often is a progressively worsening spiral for her. It's one of the main reasons doctors who know better are backing off on insulin and metformin prescriptions.🤷🏻‍♀️

Corn is an absolute "no" for me, Kes. I've never been able to digest it, but since the IBS, it just destroys me. Living in the Midwest, summer without corn is like a day without sunshine, but nonetheless I don't dare eat it!

Oooh, so glad you got the kitty-want scratched! --- I nearly break out in hives every time I see someone here start with "you should." It's never followed by informed viable information relevant to the target. Everyone is then so kind and generous about educating the should-er. Sadly I just dont have the patience or energy. --- smprowett, thank you for the book tip!

Sorry, Kes. I forgot about your post on long grain rice. Short term memory is beginning to go I think!
