NanaKP's Journal, 19 July 2017

Good morning. I'm in Southern California if anyone wants to help pack up 30 years of junk. My mother, the Navy wife could move at the drop of a hat. To begin with, she was super organized. Me? Wellll . . . not so much. I spend 15 minutes trying to find out where I put my purse. My daughter-in-law, Leea came over last night and said, "While I'm here, why don't I help you get some stuff together." OMG! So for an hour or so we cleaned off and packed the things from my table in my office. Of course I think there were a few things that got tossed that I would have kept. That is also why I need help. Packrat, hoarder. As I told a friend of mine when explaining that Ern NEVER keeps a receipt, "I'm the complete opposite. I could probably dig up a receipt for a package of gum I bought 30 years ago." Not conducive to a quick move. Anyway, instead of charging right into packing this morning, we went to the Cafe for breakfast, the grocery shopping, and now procrastinating by writing this. Time for the dreaded packing. grrrrrrrrr. Have a good day all.

When I feel like you just described.... I like a great pot of coffee...have a cup ...and make a list. Stick to the list....write another list at the end of day...for the next day. Before you know it ...you'll be packed and not stressed out about it...or should I say...less stressed out. Good Luck. Where are you going from here? Hope it's the best!

We're moving to an independent living apartment . I am so looking forward to a nice clean home that I don't need to clean. They clean the apartment , do our wash, change our beds, and feed us three meals a day . I'm not sure what we are to do but relax. Of course they also have exercise equipment and some exercise classes. Many different activities are offered that we can take part in . As far as making lists , I have a problem doing that . I freeze when I try to decide what to do . It is really a big problem . I was lucky today . I had to have the fur kids at the groomer. Ate and went back to pick them up and then needed to go with Ernie to his doctor's appointment . Being in a town where there are restaurants, I figured we needed to go out to eat. So we went to Chili's . I have been craving ribs so I had baby backs and they were fabulous . Instead of the offered french fries I asked for broccoli and it was cooked perfectly. The salad was also yummy. A great meal within my carb range . Unfortunately dessert called my name. I ordered the skillet chocolate chip cookie figuring it would have the least carbs. Unfortunately , while waiting for it to come I found the carb count. It was something like 187. I freaked out. When the waiter came back, I apologized and told him I couldn't eat it, before he could take it away however, my hubby said he would. Thus , I was able to taste it. It was out of this world fantastic . If I hadn't already taken my insulin , I may have given in to it. But I settled for just a taste . Good girl . Patting self on back. Tomorrow back to packing and escrow lady is coming to get papers signed. I'm getting more excited everyday . Dogs look great and I'm looking forward to see how they like their new home. Next week they have an appointment with their doctor. Ernie got a call from his pain doctor and he will be having a nerve block on 1 August . This is to kill the pain in his back. What a treat for us both. A clean, new home to relax in, painlessly with our clean fur kids . Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the summer.

It's a great way to lose weight in more than one way.

Totally feeling you on moving. I'm currently in the process of moving for the 3rd time in the past year. it really is about focusing on one small task at a time to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Good luck with the move, the eating plan, glucose control, and reaching your goals!

Thanks for the support all. We totally blew off packing today . Ate breakfast, fell asleep in our chairs. When we awoke it was already 10:30. We set off for furniture row and stopped at Mor Furniture . We needed a new bed . Maybe not as grand as what we bought , but Im thrilled. We got a mattress and frame that raises the legs and/or back. I have wanted one of these for years . It's a split king so we each have a remote . It also vibrates . I probably won't use that function but Ernie wanted it. I had a lift chair with vibrate but never used it . Dogs hate it . Hours later with all the papers signed we took our poor, broke selves out to dinner . My cell was dead so I had to guess at carbs. Decided to wait to inject until we got home . I figured 5 units of insulin, and I was right. Getting pretty good at this . I guess tomorrow it's back to packing. Hope everyone is having a successful weekend . God bless.
