crazy busy starting the process of putting up fruit from our garden and orchard. I have also been making salves from the herbs in our garden. I love the creating process, but it does tend to get a little hot in the house. Also i Have to figure out how to get in some formal exercise. All of the that movement is exercise just not "formal", funny how sometimes I am more tired and sore after than a workout.

Depending how long you go at it, Web MD says, "Heavy yard work (landscaping, moving rocks, hauling dirt): 400-600 calories per hour. Raking and bagging leaves: 350-450 calories per hour. Gardening: pulling weeds, planting flowers, etc.: 200-400 calories per hour. Mowing the lawn: 250-350 calories per hour." I say, just do what pleases you. As long as you're moving your body. That's all that matters :-)

I love this time of year.....but sometimes it gets a bit tedious....last night I topped and tailed the gooseberries. But it all tastes so much better than storebought :) would love an orchard :)

I wanted to join the Gym but my schedule is rather sporadic, so it's just not something I can honestly say I would commit to at this time, but someone else pointed out, you do not need formal exercise, what you need is regular activity, don't matter what it is, as long as it gets you moving somehow, so I look for ways to be more active, such as walk when I can instead of drive, or just go for a walk, do more mowing of the garden instead of leaving it another week, carry my bags to the car instead of trolley them over, park a bit farther away from places I am visiting, take the stairs and not the lift if you are able, there are tons of ways to get moving more and on their own may seem small but they all add up and are all valuable...It sounds like you have already been quite busy anyway, so well done and don't worry about the formal thing, put it in the 'would like to do book' and get to it when you can and when you can gain some benefit from it...in the meantime, look to find ways you can more active in your daily life and routines...the latest I have been doing, is taking the 'long' way around to my local shop, takes about 10 mins more each way, not much I know, but it takes my walking total from 20 mins to 40 mins, which takes it from a quick jaunt to a good little walk and when you consider I used to drive down, I have made huge difference to my activity by that one change alone, I am now walking for at least 40 mins 2-3 times a week just going to the local shop instead of the supermarket and/or in the car. Best wishes.
