Here's a little Shakespeare for us, from Othello:

IAGO
Virtue? A fig! 'Tis in ourselves that we are thus or
thus. Our bodies are our gardens, to the which our
wills are gardeners. So that if we will plant nettles
or sow lettuce, set hyssop and weed up thyme,
supply it with one gender of herbs or distract it
with many, either to have it sterile with idleness or
manured with industry, why the power and corrigible
authority of this lies in our wills. (1.3.361-368)

Me: Yes! I love the idea that our bodies are our gardens to which our wills are gardeners. That's what we're all about here at FS - cultivating our wills, so that we can effectively garden our bodies. We all know what happens to a neglected garden, right? May we all have beautiful results from our gardening efforts. Cultivate your gardens!

And now that we know about the gut biome, we know that we are quite literally gardening our bodies - and without that flourishing microbiota, we wouldn't be able to live. 80% of our digestion and immune system is in the microbes. Cultivate a healthy gut and you cultivate mental and physical well-being. Garden on!
