ShyGuy's Journal, 06 April 2017

Based on my recent loss, and the fact that I think the RTD shakes contributed to the stall, I experienced in the past few weeks, I'm going to try an experiment. So far I haven't had one of those shakes, all week long. I'm going to stay away from them until after my next weigh in, just to see if I lose any weight during that period. If I do, I'll stay away from them for another week to see what happens. If I continue to lose weight, just by eating naturally low carb foods then I'll have a decision to make, as those shakes do satisfy my sweet tooth, and keep me from really going off the rails into the kinds of foods that are super rich in carbs. It'll be interesting to see how things turn out. And for those that are going to suggest I eat fruit to satisfy my sweet tooth, don't; read the first two sentences of my profile, and you'll know why. :-)

Can you make your own shakes? I use high quality protein powder, one cup almond milk and a very small amount of frozen berries - blend it up and we have a low carb high protein "snack" with no additives. Just a thought...

I was going to suggest the same thing. I basically do as HCB but add peanut flour to a chocolate protein (low carb) powder...blend with ice cubes and I have the most delicious peanut butter chocolate shake...very filling and very satisfying. There are so many things you can do with protein powders to make delicious shakes.

Thanks ladies, I appreciate your suggestions; and truth be known I do like the Polaner Sugar Free Blackberry, and Raspberry Preserves, which I've blended into some very tasty shakes with some unsweetened Vanilla Coconut Almond Milk, in the past. I will, as suggested, invest in some low carb protein powder. I also have some of the, aforementioned, preserves on hand; all I need is the protein powder.
