Well, it had to happen sooner or later. Snow, that is. Got up at 3:30 to run, looked out the window and nothing. I guess, during my run on the treadmill, the seasons changed, and winter arrived. Came back upstairs and about an inch of the white stuff lay on the ground. We went from 50 degree days to 15 overnight. Had a wonderful drive in this morning. Either people forget how to drive from one winter to the next, or it's the same people who just never get it. Hey people, the gas pedal is not an "ON/OFF" switch. You actually have to "ease into it" when you take off on ice. Bumper cars is not a sport.
Going to get in about 15 miles on the treadmill this week. This Jillian Michaels half-marathon training thing is working out pretty well. So far I am actually getting into competing against this program; I'm not going to let it beat me, and I am actually feeling pretty good. I can see that the danger would lie in skipping a workout and then trying to catch up. I can already see that, especially when the weather gets warmer, I will be substituting some outdoor workouts and deleting some of the treadmill ones.
Now, if I can just get my wife to quit buying those shortbread cookies.

Lucky you, I love snow! It slows everything down and you have an excuse not to rush around like mad. If your last line is a joke, I don't get it. If it's not, tell her to STOP buying them!

No; it's not a joke. She has started keeping a clear glass jar full of shortbread cookies on the kitchen counter. She keeps adding more exotic designed ones with sugar sprinkled all over them. I just have to learn to ignore them. My house looks like we are always prepared for the trick-or-treaters. :) There are containers of candy all over the place, and bags full of the stuff in the pantry, should any of the containers get low. I lost the first 35 pounds with this stuff hanging around; it's a mind over matter thing. I just have relapses until I get focused again.

Mind over matter! That's what I keep telling myself everyday. I still have lots of sweet leftovers from christmas. I haven't touched them in 3 days which is the best I have managed so far. I'll keep them for my spike days.
