Been Binging on this show.... My 600 pound life....
These people are so damaged. The mental health issues are so bad.
Some are clearly just lazy and don't care. The doctor even sees this and makes it clear.
Some have emotional issues, dependency issues...
Some, have realized their problem, and work toward being better...
I spoke to someone who was once angry because her employer was going to charge her more for insurance because of a health test. When it was made clear that it was because she was morbidly obese, she chose to ignore this fact, and remain happily fat and ignore her health issues. Although her refusal to take care of herself would result in more costs to her employer, she expected to still pay the same as someone who was concerned about their health. This is the mentality that causes death.
"She expects everyone to do what she needs" -- A statement from the doctor on "My 600 pound life"
All of us here... will NEVER get any better if don't accept reality.
If no one helps us, we have to accept that. If no one supports us, we have to accept that. If we are lazy fat asses, we have to accept that.
Anyway, if anyone hasn't seen this show, I highly recommend it. I'm just so schocked that weighing over 600 pounds is apparently much more common than I ever considered....

I have seen that show. It's very depressing and sad, you're correct about that. I also wonder just how "real" it is. There are plenty of these reality shows that don't contain much reality. I have no idea how they would fake such a thing, but if i can think of it, i'm sure some enterprising producer could too. after all, i've read about the tricks and shananagins they got up to on "the Biggest looser" program.

I'm sure that there is some dramatization added.. but without a doubt, these people weigh over 600 pounds... and some start to make better choices.. and some don't... I'm really just amazed by this show...

I watched all 4 seasons of this show but I won't watch the "where are they now" shows because I don't think I could take seeing what happened to them. I relate to the mentality of it b/c I have been there myself. Several of these people were abused as children and use weight as a protection device. That Dr. doesn't take any crap off of the people...if they won't do as he instructs he tells them he can't help them.

I always wonder who is getting the food for the ones who are incapacitated.

I have watched loads of this show! The Dr on it is amazing he is so patient with them. I have watched the Where Are They Now follow-ups and a few of them actually do lose a LOT of weight and become relatively healthy eventually. It is good to see that it can be achieved if you keep focused even if it takes a long time.

Abba, it's their husbands, mothers, sons, daughters.. each person has at least one person who feeds them all...

I also watch that show.It is very sad. Many have mental issues ,but alot of them are so manipulative .The most disturbing ones were those ,whose young children had to wash and clean them(faeces and urine) and serve them day after day. They were losing their childhood and the mother wasnt taking advantage of the help she was getting to be able to do the weight loss surgery.

I agree Umm it is disturbing to see the kids used like that.

Just saw an episode and all the kids are adopted. Adopt children then force them to wipe your azz.... This is just crazy....
