Rough week... 2 high school classmates (1982) died last week. Both heart blockages. It wasn't that I was particularly close with these guys, but that they were my age; one seemed healthy; one seemed about 80 lbs overweight as I had been. As I am hearing it, they both dropped suddenly, without warning (at least to those around them). For 2 months I felt something going on in my chest and thought it was just reflux. After all, I had already lost 65 lbs and was doing 45 minutes of cardio on a regular basis. Still, I got checked out. Turns out it was 6 blockages (100/90/70/50/50/50%), resulting in 5 bypasses BEFORE A HEART ATTACK. So it makes me count my blessings... and makes me ponder how much our nutrition plays a part in Cardiovascular disease, regardless if we are overweight or not.

Thankful to hear you "listened" to your body and had it checked out. Yes, becomes very REAL when a classmate or someone our own age passes....

If you can stay out of fast food joints, you're already miles ahead of your class, overweight or not. The documentary "Supersize Me" should answer your question about whether a normal weight person can be truly sick, even after just 1 month.
