No starch would be pretty close to Atkins anyway wouldn't it. We aren't going to kick you out just cause you change diets Glenn.

FYI - When I click on No Starch it says it is "Private" . Is this the same as NO White?

Thanks Bren - I hope to get on buddies' journals by or during the weekend. NO wheat products either... it is a bit less strict than Atkins but not much - and I have to do it for my health - NO CHOICE HERE THIS TIME AROUND!

No Buffy - I can't have wheat either - brown - no rice brown or white - but can have cauliflower. Everything white is basically out but so are all wheat products and that too. It is not a private diet, does anyone know how I change that setting?

I had to change to a version of no starch too. I'm allergic to lectins - peptides that coat the outside of starch. I'm following the Paleolithic diet (plus dairy). I feel a lot better on it.

Thanks Runesinger - I may have to go on something like the Paleolithic diet (plus dairy) to get more support on here. I went out and could not get ice cream, a submarine sandwich, etc. but had to settle for a antipasto salad...

Easting out is always such a pain - I used to enjoy it - or, should I say, enjoy it too much.

I have found an ice cream that is (so far) starch-free. It is Breyers French Vanilla. They use egg yolk as a binder, and no modified food starch.

Thanks Runesinger - Breyers is not available in all of the USA - or at least years ago it wasn't - it is here... I like vanilla ice cream as one can add things to it like toppings of strawberries or chocolate and change the flavor when you want...

also, if you have to eat in restaurants, you might try Greek. The Greek restaurant here is very helpful. They serve me meat, potatoes and vegetables and leave off the bread.

There is a good Greek restaurant in my town that I haven't yet eaten at - a small delivery place did close down a few years back. I will go down there to eat when I am downtown on my own... thanks for the information, not much to eat at Italian, Oriental or Mexican, etc. that isn't loaded with pasta, noodles and bread, etc.

You also might try Spanish or Persian restaurants - I've had good luck there.

We have an Indian restaurant I have yet to go to that has been in town decades. We have no restaurants I know of that are Persian or Spanish. Many of the restaurants are very, very expensive for my tastes anyway - anyplace inexpensive is going to be serving bread to fill somebody up... there are numerous restaurants in my town, and even tonight as I took a walk they are doing quite well - full of people - the economy is good here for many who are associated someway with the five big colleges all close together...
