performance: losing 0.3 lb a week
I started on FatSecret with a goal of losing about 10% of my body weight to reduce my blood pressure. I am challenged by a number of food allergies. Now that I've lost 55 lbs I am in the maintenance phase of my diet. Maintenance is just as important as the weight loss phase. It does no good to lose all that weight if you just gain it all back.
I am following a variation of the Paleolithic Diet, but that isn't enough for moderate weight loss. In maintenance, I'm still counting calories and making some moderate portion control. Healthy food is important, but don't eat too damn much of that healthy food.
Starting Weight: 200 lbs. Dress Size 20
1st Goal 180 lbs - Goal Reached: 7/11/2010, Blood pressure down 21 points! Dress Size 18
2nd Goal 160 lbs - Goal Reached: 11/4/2010, Dress Size 12
Stretch Goal 145 lbs - Achieved 4/22/2011, Dress Size 10, blood pressure in normal range
I live in the main berry-producing area of the country, so if you see a lot of berries in my meals, it's just because I'm eating local produce.
I also live near the Pacific Ocean, so I eat a lot of fish and shellfish. I have all kinds of healthful ways to cook fish (i.e. not breaded and fried!)
