warrenwinter's Journal, 10 September 2016

Last night, I watched a documentary program on HBO, which documented major breakthroughs, that have recently transpired in the fight of all types of cancer. In fact, total cures for many cancers are being documented around the United States and the world. One in particular, was an 11 year old, who was given weeks to live, was given a genetically, engineered, HIV virus, as an experiment to try and save her. When she was given the HIV, she went into a coma, and the doctor told the parents, she would most likely die in the next days, but miraculously, her body responded, she gained consciousness, and over a period of weeks became 100% cured from cancer. Seeing the before and after pictures were shocking. The doctor believes she lost 10 pounds of cancer in her body. She is back in school like nothing ever ailed her, with NO signs of cancer. Interestingly, the doctor who found this breakthrough, lost his funding from the politics of government funding. Only with publicity, and major wealthy donations, is his work continuing. But all types of breakthroughs are occurring through genetically, altered HIV, cold, measles, and other viruses used to cure cancer. It was an amazing show!

Interesting! Genetics is the new frontier in medicine. We've barely begun to know what can be done with it. It's also dangerous in unforeseen ways, and some ignored ways. Ethical issues abound, as we know, in GMO's in our food supply.

does that qualify as a miracle??

Thanks Erika and Kathleen! This program made me tearful to watch. One of the most remarkable shows I have ever seen. It is part of a series of documentaries produced and funded by Bill Maher called "Vice", believe it or not. It doesn't get much publicity, because people die of cancer everyday. Only few, who find the right doctors, are being saved. Most of these are on "fast track" status for wide approval. That takes time. A very hopeful thing, in this mixed up world.

Fascinating! I read, a while back, that if a cure for cancer was ever released (some claim that a definitive cure has already been found, and hidden away), the economies of the 'world powers' would shatter because oncology is such a huge business.

Ok, my two cents. Yes anytime a childs' life is saved it's a miracle! As far as cancer research? Many more miracles are happening that cure people of cancer just by changing what they eat and optimizing all nutrients and minerals, etc. that they need. That's not even getting into the amazing alternative options being used successfully on 1000's of cancer patients. Mskestrela I agree with what you said. So, that's my rant for the day. Otherwise, "Hi" everyone!

Mskestela, it is a good point. Money is commonly called the "root of all evil". I believe this will become more widespread, but what will be the relationship to profit, which is always in the forefront?

I think diet plays an important part in becoming a cancer victim. I also believe inherited genetics may play a larger part. Why would young children get cancer? Certainly not from poor diet. I agree with you on alternative options. I won't be canceling my cancer surgery because of this show. lol Thanks for your input!

Don't even get me started on the relationship between profit and disease in our society! You make a good point Airspree, that people mightn't need cancer treatment if they were eating clean nutritious food from soil that was cared for, and that nutrition can heal many diseases. But instead big pharma is pumping drugs into people without considering first line nutritional cures, because they don't care to cure people, only to make big money from outrageously expensive drug treatments. And big Pharma ensures that the medical schools don't teach natural cures, because that would interfere with their profits. Our culture has gone a long way down the drugs-for-profit rabbit hole, and people are dying unnecessarily. I know that modern medicine does some things very well, but there are huge blind spots, and the alternative medicine world is beginning to put some cracks in the mirror to see what was possible traditionally and through genetics, what will be possible in the future. We just need to work more in harmony with the natural world - working through nutrition - to help ourselves heal. Diabetes and insulin is one of the most common and egregious examples. Insulin makes type II people sicker, when they could be cured in the hands of a knowledgeable nutrition oriented doc. There's my rant on the subject! After watching my mother tortured with round after round of chemo while she was dying, my father turned it all down when his time came. So, painful to watch, both ways!

So sorry to hear about your parents, Erika. My father died of cancer also at age 86 of working with "mustard gas" during WWII. My father turned down chemo and radiation too.

I felt that for my father it was a very brave and honest choice, given what he had seen my mom go through. He was only 72. It was quite a while ago, now, but still a heart ache. Thanks, Warren. Sorry for your loss, as well.

Erika, my father also felt his choice was correct for him, and he, most likely, lived for ten years after getting the cancer. Thanks Erika, you too!

Warren, if you want to spend a fascinating couple of hours, look up "Epigenetics". A relatively new science, there are all kinds of studies going on that show that environment, both internal and external, will determine what genes express or not. Further, it's beginning to look like what you eat can actually change your DNA! Meditation is one of the most profound exercises that affects gene expression. Dr. Bruce Lipton was one of the first pioneers in the field, and a great speaker.

We also have genes that are keyed in to using folate from leafy greens, that control our neurotransmitter production. So, we feel happier when we eat our veggies! It's called the methylation process, and many people are not optimizing this process or I should say, their genes are not optimizing the process. So, fascinating. My inner city students are aghast when I tell them that they are genetically programmed to eat green vegetables. This is a very disturbing thought to them!

That's why they now know that women who are planning to conceive need to take folate before conception, because so many people are deficient. And low folate can cause birth defects.

I watched a show of a course given to university students. in a nut shell. He was saying that overweight people are more at risk of cancer. It's now almost akin to smoking, as a risk for cancer. We all have the potential for cancer, it's just cells that go haywire and duplicated. Eating a plant based diet (unprocessed foods) has the effect of strengthening the cells so they don't become erratic and start duplicating. Billions of dollars are spent afterwards looking for cures that could have easily been given in prevention mode with foods eaten regularly costing a few bucks. Also, interestingly enough, certain foods can prevent certain types of cancer, but will have no effect on other cancers. For example, for prostate cancer, eating tomatoes will protect against the cells in the prostate against a cancer developing in that area. The bloke is a biochemist. The name is Richard Beliveau and he wrote a book called <foods that prevent cancer. His lecture was very compelling. Yes, nutrition is the key.

Mskestrela, I will check that out, and I believe everything affects our genes. I have a friend, that smoked pot extensively most of his young life, and was second guessing his extensive pot use as an adult, when his son was born with an open heart. I am against drugs and pot, and believe it is one of many things, that can affect our genes. In the 60's there was lots of talk of pot affecting genes. I was lucky, living through the 60's, that my drug use was minimal. Unlike most of my friends. lol
