This is an issue I've had to come to terms with recently... there is a BIG difference between foods that are "healthy" (olive oil, nuts, avocado, etc.) and foods that will help you lose weight. I think this is especially true for people who aren't seriously overweight, but would just like to be a little leaner.

so then i guess that brings me back to square 1.. does olive oil contribute to healthy living and is it really a good substitute for other types of oil or it doesnt really make a difference if you use olive oil in daily cooking or not? and for people who are watching their weight which oil is the best for weight loss diets

Obviously I'm not an expert and this is just my opinion, but from what I understand about watching your weight, everything comes down to calories and all fats and oils have A LOT of calories. That being said I believe you have to find a good balance between losing weight/being thin and being healthy. If I ate nothing but rice cakes I would probably be a lot skinnier, but I wouldn't be healthy. You need to have oils and fats in your diet in order for your body and brain to function properly and some choices (olive oil & canola oil and other unsaturated fats) are healthier than others (lard, butter, and saturated or partially hydrogenated oils). The short answer is yes, olive oil is healthy and should be used instead of other unhealthy fats, but if you are trying to lose weight you just need to be aware that it has lots of calories and don’t try and add extra olive oil to your diet just because it’s “healthy”. I hope that helps. Good luck!
