And the slow down begins :) I have been a weight loss junky for years. This time i want to take it all the way, and maintain my weight for more than a few years. I think over my life time i've lost about 3 people. Big people, 600# all in all. My avg weight tends to be around 225 This is the biggest i been, but i have been here twice now. Feeling is horrible. At 51 I think it's time for a permanent change, and i'm determined to get to 195 and stay there. at least till i'm old and frail. :) This is not easily done working around food everyday. But i know enough about nutrition and discipline, i should be able to achieve this goal. i hope to look back on this journal and smile, rather than laugh. So i typically lose 12# the first week, alot of fluid weight, and then i go into fat burning mode, where on my diet design after intense study shows i can lose as much as .7# a day to as low as .3# a day. Now most people say, "that's unhealthy" Well, i say "buffalo chips" Who says it's unhealthy to lose rapid weight? The diet industry? Doctors? Have you ever asked why? Well I have, if you have certain ailments, it is entirely unhealthy for you to try rapid weight loss. (Diabetes, Heart problems, blood issue etc..) But, if your overall healthy you should be able to move the needle a bit more than what a diet company tells you. I say this for two reasons. A. If your like myself, you need to be motivated by results to continue the program you selected. B.Companies are in the business of making money, and bottom line. They make more from you the longer it takes for you to reach your goal. Enough said. That's one of the things i like about apps like this and the tech we have today. It's all up to you now. no system can fail you. No diet has ever failed me! I've always, always Quit, given up, or just couldn't follow their plan. After years though i've learned that your DNA, your family history, and you in particular play a huge roll in removing and maintaining weight loss. and a healthy body. By that i mean, If your ancestors were high carb eaters and maintained a trim body, what was it that allowed that? Where they farmers, contruction workers or just high energy people? If they ate a lot of protein and very little fruits and veggies etc. And you eat Mostly carbs and fruits.... do you see where i'm going with this. Only you can discover this. I know from history of my family, we are Veggie and protein eaters. Almost no dairy or carbs. But, i was brought up on milk and bread, that being the science of the day for healthy child. throw in McyD's and oh boy do you have a recipe for and out of control body. So look into it, never forget it. Design your diet or pick one that will enhance your program and loss. no one is the same.

This is a great write-up! You're on the right track. I've lost several people over the years as well, losing then gaining back the weight. I have committed my 50's to solid weight loss and healthy maintenance. Thank you for the inspiration!!

I'm doing LCHF since July 21 and have currently lost 8# in 9 days. I say "buffalo chips" too!! I feel healthier than I have in a LONG, LONG time. I had to do something to get this weight off of my knees, they are bothering me, and before they become debilitating, I want to make a big change in my weight. I know full well that this is the change I'm after!! Thank you again for the encouraging write up.
