Ugh! I seem to have lost all my willpower. I know that low carb high fat works for me, but I just can't seem to stick to it anymore. I want fruit and macaroni salads and unfortunately craving sweets lately. I am going to try going back on LCHF today, but if I have too much difficulty sticking with it, I may check out Weight Watchers or South Beach, or just counting calories.

I also have problems sticking to lchf. So what I do is count calories when I'm sick of low carb. I can still lose that way, just not as fast. I eat fruit and some lower calorie sweets like fudgesicles, sugar free or fat free snack pack pudding.. there are alot of things you can have on low cal. Then when I feel like going back to low carb, I haven't gained a thing. Good luck. I know it's so hard to stick to. Honestly I only do low carb if I stall on low calorie. Just my experience :)

Thanks beware5289. I think that is the way I am going to be eating. Sometimes I just have to have something that is not LCHF.

I empathize, with you both. I am rather new to the LCHF approach, but it is the cravings that did me in each time I dieted in the past. It seemed that each day they just got more intense until I caved and binged. This time I have been trying to gradually eliminate carbs rather than quitting them 'cold turkey'. When I choose to satisfy a craving, I am making sure that it is in a very, very controlled way. For example, last week I longed for spaghetti and could almost taste it so much! I ended up having a tiny serving, with huge amounts of a very tasty garden salad. I also made sure to drink lots of water before I started eating (made me feel full). Well, bu the time I started to slowly eat and savor my spaghetti, I felt full and my craving was satisfied. I am pretty sure that if I had not done it in a controlled way, this week I would have been scarfing down spaghetti, baked potatoes, and more.

Although I do empathize with you guys who have willpower problems I must say this. Find your willpower, keep it, or stay fat. That is not intended to be hurtful. It is a simple fact. If you keep giving in you will never ever lose weight, you will remain fat and will suffer from it. Find your REASON for being here and remember it. ONLY then will you lose the fat. Take control of your body.

I lost 41 lbs doing it my way. I don't consider that a failure at all. The older you are and the closer you are to goal weight, the loss slows down. I don't expect to lose it all in a month. For me it's not about willpower, it's about I don't like meat. I could go my entire life without ever eating it again and be happy. Not liking meat makes LCHF very hard to live with every single day. Many people love that they can eat bacon, beef, chicken etc.. I just don't like it.

There's more than one way to do this. Go ahead and experiment until you find what works for you.

I think sometimes a change does help - as long as it's still healthy and interesting. Make the best choices you can be happy with. and allow an occasional treat. May be slower, but you'll stick to it longer.
